Tim's initial confidence was cool but he's not owed the job by divine right ffs. If he's asked to show what he's done to deserve a contract extension, what's he going to say? Further away from 4th than when AVB got booted, still flat track bullies, no obvious tactical philosophy. He's the shit, supermarket own-brand version of Harry Redknapp, so I'd love to know how he's so gassed he reckons he can just bowl into a top 6 club without anyone asking wtf he's doing there.

Portuguese newspaper Record claim on Saturday that the spat between Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood and his Benfica opposite number Jorge Jesus was prompted by a desire to settle a score for Andre Villas Boas.

Jesus and Villas Boas had become friends after meeting one another at UEFA conventions and the Benfica manager, according to Record, was angered by the way Tottenham treated his friend and particularly unhappy with Sherwood. In Portugal it's thought that Sherwood played a big role in unsettling the squad under Villas Boas, feeding the media juicy stories which weren't always true, and then, when the trouble exploded, presenting himself to Tottenham as the only viable alternative.

Record say Jesus said to Sherwood, in English, "1,2,3, my name in Andre," and repeated himself when the Tottenham manager failed to understand first time around. The Spartacus approach was clearly designed to be a kick to Sherwood and a reminder of the man he replaced.

The newspaper point out that Jesus was happy to dismiss the altercation as nothing, unlike Sherwood, but the Benfica manager is due to speak at a pre-match press conference today and the Portuguese media will surely try and drag more out of him.

Even Wenger raced to tell Sagna and Arteta to chill, knew he couldn't let Sherwood get that Pardew touchline ban, he's needed ringside, Timmy doing his job more discreet than old Moyeses, he's to be appreciated.

Timmy even tried to rally our troops after the match with his discrediting of our title chances, Wenger asked him to give us the AVB downward spiral finish comments lol.

Are Tim Sherwood's days as Spurs manager numbered? Ruud Gullit certainly seems to think so. The former Chelsea manager spoke to BBC 5Live and indicated that outgoing Netherlands manager Louis Van Gaal already has a deal in place to replace Sherwood as manager of Tottenham Hotspur at the conclusion of this summer's World Cup:

"I know for sure [Daniel Levy] was at Van Gaal's house, the [spurs] chairman. I think it's a done deal, but you never know."
