Barcelona 2 Year Transfer Ban

At the beginning of December there were rumours in Spain about a possible Barcelona exit for Pedro. It coincided with the game against Athetic Club Bilbao. The Spanish international had been playing well but despite Lionel Messi being injured and despite Barcelona really needing a goal, Pedro only came on in the 85th minute of a 1-0 loss.

That prompted the Catalan press to speculate that Pedro was perhaps being treated unfairly and could therefore look to leave Barcelona before his contract expires in June 2016. The rumours were picked up by the British media and The Mirror said that Manchester United were one of the clubs interested but that a January transfer was unlikely.

Tata Martino perhaps got the hint and Pedro started 5 of the next 6 games, scoring an impressive 8 goals. He's been one of Barcelona's best players so far this season and it caused anger in some sections of the Catalan sport press when Neymar started ahead of Pedro against Real Madrid recently.

Pedro is one of a number of players whose contracts Barcelona are looking to extend at the moment and there's further speculation in Spain this week it's possible he could look elsewhere.

Although he'd like to remain at Barcelona, Fichajes reckon that the money Manchester United or PSG would be able to offer him could be hugely tempting when compared to a proposed Barcelona deal.

Fichajes claim that both Manchester United and PSG tested the water in January but were informed Pedro had no intention of moving during that window. Barcelona will hope they can get a new deal sorted out as soon as possible.
