Mexico vs Cameroon

It should be an open game because both teams have no defence whatsoever. Mexico will have most of the ball and will create chances but who will finish them Peralta or Hernandez because Herrea has a choice to make.

Cameroon need to play Choupo-Moting because he is such an outlet with his dribbling skills and close control.  M'Bia/Song combo will be key for Cameroon along with Eto'o they are the most important players they have.

Spain vs Netherlands

Spain had two training matches(XI vs reserves)

VDB's chose this team for the first game : Casillas, Azpilicueta, Piqué, Ramos, Jordi Alba, Busquets, Silva, Xavi, Cesc, Pedro, Torres

No Costa, No Double Pivot,No Iniesta(Which could only happen if he was injured)

For the second game he chose this team:  the backline is set: Azpilicueta, Piqué, Ramos, Jordi Alba with Casillas in goal.

This time Del Bosque aligned the usual Busquets-Alonso doble pivote with Xavi in his normal free role. The attackers this time were Iniesta, Pedro and Costa.

So it seems like the real doubts for the XI against the Netherlands are Silva or Pedro and then whether it will be an out and out '9' (Costa or Torres) or a false '9' (Cesc).

Van Gaal 5-2-1-2's not feeling it at all. The keeper is average plus a defence marshalled by Vlaar doesn't sound great but they have wingbacks in Janmaat/Blind who attack for fun but cannot defend to save their lives. BMI loves to dive in for tackles(expect him to get booked)

De Jong I hope karma hits him good. Clasie against his idols(Iniesta y Xavi) should be good.

Robben/Van Persie should test Spain's defence.

VDB vs LVG is going to be a tactical battle

Van Gaal will he take the L and allow Spain to dominate the ball, soak up the pressure and wait for counters? or will he think I am Louis Van Gaal we are going to take the game to Spain which would be epic for the viewers.

Chile vs Australia

Chile will run riot against Australia(just like most good teams seems to do against them). Jorge Sampaoli has really taken over Bielsa's good work with this core of players.

Chile will outball every team in this competition for long periods in games because of their style of play(quick passing and movements/combos)

They have 14 midfielders in their squad alone.  expect them to play three at the back(if the other team has two CF) and two at the back(if the other team has one CF) because Sampaoli always want a spare man at the back.

Vidal isn't fit so Sanchez y Vargas(so much quality noticed by watching La Liga and Valencia's EL run to the semis) are the main threats.

Nah, I need that 4-2-3-1 from Spain. Xavi needs to touch bench, play Iniesta in the hole, Silva LW & Pedro RW. Costa as the ST.

Can't have Torres starting games for Spain in 2014, it's a mockage.

torres will bag important goals

spain need 433 with xavi on the bench and xabi, ini and bouquets....

but they will line up with ini on the left and silva on the right....costa up top and xavi in midfield

When's the last time he bagged important goals for Spain? Euro 2008?

Definitely not Euro 2012 from what I remember.

Not South Africa 2010 either IIRC, that was Puyol vs. Germany & Villa every other time, lol.

xabi and busquets is like a double pivot anyway with ini more of a license i agree if xavi plays in that role then they wont recover in time

there wingers will be narrow and play like attacking mids and it will work if the right fullbacks play

but playing 4231 with wingers and a double pivot then thats not tiki taka, thats some negative tactic.... playing 6 at the back

Azpilicueta will start ahead of Juanfran in a game like this

Much better defender but very average on the ball with Jordi Alba on the left you already have an attacking fullback

VDB hardly uses to rampaging fullbacks ala Salgado y Carlos

Spain will be fine, as long as Mata, Arbeloa and Torres don't play. That Brazil game could have been so much different.

Peralta anytime at 2/1.

Got a lot riding on it.

He starts

Hernandez on the bench
