Neymar hails improved understanding with Messi

 

The Brazilian attacker has formed a lethal partnership with the four-time Ballon d'Or winner this term after a difficult start together last season

 

Barcelona forward Neymar believes a better understanding with Lionel Messi is the primary reason for their free-scoring form this season.

 

The Brazil international joined Barca from Santos in June 2013 and there were initially doubts whether he would be compatible with Messi.

 

However, after scoring nine league goals last season, Neymar has already netted 15 in La Liga this term, while Messi has been on target on 28 occasions domestically and Neymar is delighted with the progress they have made in 2014-15.

 

"I feel very happy. It’s been easy to play alongside Leo and he is one of my heroes," Neymar said at a promotional event in Qatar.

 

"Our understanding on the pitch just keeps getting better and better."

 

Messi currently sits second in the race for the European Golden Shoe following his successful partnership with Neymar, while the Brazilian also finds his name in the top 10.

 

The duo will be looking to add to their tally when they take on Athletic Bilbao at San Mames on Sunday.
