Derby boss Steve McClaren was certainly happy with Lingard's goal and hailed the quality of his finish.
“The goals both came from fantastic football," he told Derby's official website.
“You won’t find better goals tonight in any game.
“The goals we scored were excellent and came from great passing; great control and superb finishes.
“Jeff (Hendrick) was excellent tonight and both him and Jesse (Lingard) finished the chances brilliantly.
“Jesse has been itching to start and he has deserved it. It was a great move leading to his goal and it was a great finish too.”
Having signed a new permanent and improved deal with United prior to joining Derby on loan, he has made all the right noises with the Championship club.
As is always the case with serious injuries, players can sometimes never recover but the early signs for Lingard is that he'll be back next season just as sharp as he was last summer.
