A young British tourist was horrifically stabbed to death in the resort of Ayia Napa this morning.

The 22-year-old holidaymaker was attacked at 3.30am in the popular Cyprus coastal town.

His friend was also stabbed but is expected to make a full recovery.

Both men, believed to be from south London, were taken by ambulance to hospital.

Cyprus Police said the two tourists were walking on Grigori Afxentiou Street when they were attacked by two other men with a knife who then ran off.

The victim was stabbed in the neck, severing his carotid artery.

His friend, also 22, was stabbed in the back.

The tourists were taken by ambulance to a private clinic in Paralimni where doctors confirmed that one had died.

The second victim sustained four stab wounds to his back and held for treatment and was kept in for treatment.

His injuries are not life threatening, police said.

Lydia Lewinson, from Coventry, suffered serious head injuries near the resort of Ayia Napa.

According to the Cyprus Mail, she was taken to Paralimni General Hospital where she died around three hours later.

A GoFundMe page was created by her friend Stella Gonzela to help raise £6,000 to have the 22-year-old flown home to be buried in Coventry.

More than £5,000 was raised in the first five hours, reported the Coventry Telegraph.

The page’s description reads: “Any donation would be great, but £6,000 is the ultimate goal to bring our beautiful friend back from Ayia Napa and have her buried in Coventry, where her friends and family can have a beautiful ceremony for her.

“Lydia was a very popular girl and was always the life of the party.

"She had many friends and everyone loved her.”

A woman has been found guilty of stabbing a love rival to death in a "cold-blooded" murder plot she orchestrated with a friend.

Sadie Hartley, 60, was stunned with a cattle prod and stabbed 41 times in Helmshore, Lancashire, on 14 January.

Sarah Williams, 35, killed businesswoman Ms Hartley so she could have her partner, Ian Johnston, to herself, Preston Crown Court heard.

Williams and accomplice Katrina Walsh, 56, were both found guilty of murder.

Jurors deliberated for seven hours and nine minutes before returning a verdict at the end of the seven-week trial. The pair will be sentenced later.

During the trial, prosecutor John McDermott QC described the duo as a self-styled "Batman and Robin but on the wrong side of the law".

He said they plotted to fulfil Williams' desire to rekindle her relationship with 57-year-old Mr Johnston, which he had ended after she became "possessive and difficult", jurors heard.

After dumping "obsessive and jealous" Williams, Mr Johnston began a new life with Ms Hartley - but his ex-lover and her accomplice spent 18 months plotting the "perfect murder" to win him back.

Williams, who described herself as a "she devil" and "little psycho", had sent Ms Hartley a "spiteful" letter in June 2014, claiming she and Mr Johnston had enjoyed "unbelievably fantastic sex" behind her back, but it failed to end the relationship of the couple.

The planning that followed was described in court as "the stuff of spy novels".

Williams and Walsh travelled to Germany to buy the stun gun last December and, exactly a week before Ms Hartley was murdered, Walsh delivered flowers to her door in a dry run for their plans.

Walsh, of Hare Lane, Chester, kept a diary as they hatched the plot, jurors were told.

After paralysing the "decent, hard-working" woman with the cattle prod, Williams, of Treborth Road, Blacon, Chester, stabbed the mother-of-two "in an orgy of violence" and with "demonic savagery", the court was told.

Williams swallowed hard as the jury forewoman delivered the verdicts, while Walsh gave a slight nod of her head.

Ms Hartley's daughter, Charlotte, 23, wiped away tears as she sat in the public gallery next to Garry Hartley, her father and Ms Hartley's ex-husband, and her brother, Harry.

Mr Johnston, sitting a few rows behind them, had tears in his eyes and gave a slight nod as the verdicts came in.

The court heard how, on the day of her death, Ms Hartley was at home alone because Mr Johnston was away on a skiing trip in the Swiss Alps.

Williams, described as a "bunny boiler" and "kept woman" who was already in a relationship with a wealthy 75-year-old "sugar daddy" and having affairs with other men, had a brief fling with Mr Johnston.

Selsdon stabbing: Teenager, 19, 'hacked to death' in horrific knife fight in Croydon

selsdon-0.jpg Crime scene: the street in Selsdon after the attack Ben Morgan

A teenager was stabbed to death in a “horrific” attack on a housing estate in south London.

The 19-year-old victim was knifed multiple times after being set upon in the Monks Hill estate in Selsdon, Croydon, at 7.40pm last night.

Police and paramedics rushed to Heather Way and gave the teenager emergency treatment before he was taken to hospital in air ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim, named locally as Andre, was said to have been “hacked to death” after a knife fight on the estate.

A neighbour told the Croydon Advertiser: “There was a helicopter overhead for ages, it was really noisy and then it started to land.

“Some of my family members went down to have a look, and when they got there police had put up the cordon and were telling people to move away.

“When they came back they told me that they had heard that someone had been stabbed. It’s awful.”

Another neighbour wrote on Twitter: “Oh my God. A young lad has been stabbed across the road and taken in an air ambulance. Roads all cordoned off. Hope he’s ok.”

He is believed to be the seventh teenager stabbed to death in the capital this year.

A Met spokesman said there had been no arrests and enquiries continue.

Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
