UK Transport Infrastructure

When you look at all the major countries of this planet, they seem to get their infrastructure in order and build at a rate that this country can only dream of.

Am I right in saying in the time it took to plan and complete HS1, France built 5 high speed lines within that time?

You have the building of just RUNWAYS in this country taking decades from concept to completion and other countries can build multiple terminal airports in 1/4 the time.

This country is a joke!

Instead of people moaning about irrelevant stuff that don't affect their lives, they allow for silly amounts of money to be wasted on infrastructure that is outdated by the time they get completed.

No jobs out there young engineers. So alot going into trading, programming and other logic based roles.

Up for companies to invest in the projects and people got the long tee, the people are there but a lot of the roles just don't exist, or they are based in Scotland/Birmingham for shit pay.

Nothing to do with people being lazy.

There have been projects for years to get people into engineering schools, most are at a very reduced cost or even free in some cases but the classes aren't being filled .. Investments can't be made if there aren't enough people to take on the projects, our country in terms of engineering isn't even close to some other countries (Germany in particular).. The schemes are there but if no one takes them they're irrelevant.. How much more investment can be made when you're giving away free qualifications and people still aren't interested.. The ignorance of this country sees stuff like building/engineering as a lower class/dead end job

As someone who's in the engineering/manufacturing/production industry, the UK is considered to having the best engineers in the world. The money is nowhere near banking etc.

What do you mean by this?

We probably have the best engineers in the world. If you're referring to the quantity of engineers then I'll agree.
