Their new home has a 90ft garden and has been recently refurbished, with a large living room, sprawling kitchen, six double bedrooms - two with walk-in dressing rooms - and five shower rooms, four of which are en-suite. Another living room has been converted into a seventh bedroom.

Councillor Jonny Bucknell, who is on Camden council’s housing committee, said: ‘There are big families living locally who need more space, and I’ve never managed to get anyone rehoused.

‘It is shocking that these people can just turn up from out of town and get such a magnificent property. The whole country is rightly outraged.'

Their fellow refugees in the area said the ‘very lucky’ family should have counted their blessings to have been given such a property.

Abdi Ibrahim, chairman of the Coventry Somali Community Network, a charity which works to integrate Somalis into the wider community, said: ‘In all my time in Coventry I have not even seen a six-bedroom house advertised for rent.

From yesterday's Mail

'My family have been stuck in three or four-bedroom accommodation - a six-bedroom house is exceptional. This family should really have stayed in the area because it is much cheaper than in London.’

Mr Khaliif, 49, moved to the seven-bedroom property in West Hampstead, North-West London, with his wife Sayida and their children after deciding their previous accommodation was too far from their friends, even though Coventry is barely more than an hour away by train.

Why is the house price relevant ?

The price is relevant due to the size of the house and area they have been put into.

Can anyone give good reason why they should be able to move to London from Coventry??

They might have had to move to find specialist schools

Might have moved to find a hospital with a specialist to treat their disabled kids

We will never know, down to you how you wanna take it

There are specialist schools/hospitals all over the country

I can tell you as a very frequent user of the NHS and having lived both in and out of London you're completely wrong

But the fact you were willing to throw that statement out there like you know tells me you're either a troll or a bullshitter

Either way, I'm out.

The only talk I can find anywhere is that they decided Coventry wasn't good enough because they wanted to be close to friends and family. They are also refusing to speak to the media about it, if they had some kinda excuse like you are trying to offer I'd expect to hear it from them. I think it's fair to assume they don't have a good one.

What do people with disabled children who don't live in London do?

As for the Councillor gambino quoted

He clearly doesn't think he should operate based on what housing policy and legislation states

Labour Camden Council prosecutes own Tory councillor over ‘home repair failings’

He's right though. As usual Londoners thinking there is nothing beyond their borders. If there was some special circumstance where this Family had children who required to be in London because it was the only place their kids could be treated then I think they or the council would simply state that and silence the whole issue. But no, they seem to be unable to.

The bigger story should be that that house is worth 1.3mill, ludicrous house prices.

By the way you do realise the value has nothing to do with how much the council spent on it to house them? The house has no doubt been in possession of the council for the last 50 odd years costing them like 40k or less back then.

The council could move you into a shit one bedroom flat in a block in westminster and you could sit there saying youve been moved into a quarter million flat, it wont make you any less broke.
