A petition calling for Sadiq Khan to declare London an independent state after the UK voted to quit the EU has been signed by thousands of people.
The petition's organiser James O'Malley, said the capital was "a world city" which should "remain at the heart of Europe".
Nearly 60% of people in the capital backed the Remain campaign, in stark contrast to most of the country.
The LSE's director said the vote showed how "radically different" London is.

In all seriousness though, it's things like this that make me say you guys are completely detached from the rest of the country, living in a bubble etc.

You've just been rambling on this whole thread, not an ounce of substance in any post thus far.

“People talk about reluctant remainers, but I think there have been a lot of reluctant Brexiters around, people who voted leave thinking it wouldn’t happen but they’d be able to vent and to tell all their friends at dinner parties they’d done it,” said one Tory minister.

“He thought what all those reluctant Brexiters thought: it would be a vote for remain, he would be seen as having stood up for a principle.” After which leave’s newest martyr could simply have bided his time for a year or so before being triumphantly installed in Downing Street.

A few sources around Westminster saying Boris didn't expect to actually win. Explains his shocked and sad face this morning. Compared to Farage who wasn't even the leader of leave.

Yep he was expecting a close remain. From which he could have set out his stall and challenged Cameron on leading to a smooth changeover when Cameron stepped down before the next election. His fucked himself completely now. These guys are so inside the bubble of westminster that they didn't see the real anger out in the rest of the UK. I don't really expect to see him as leader of the tories once Cameron steps down either. I'm thinking Theresa May will be the person both the out and in sides will settle on as tolerable for either side.

But I also don't think Farage was expecting an out either.  Will be interesting to the direction UKIP goes now.

Biggest power-shift in politics I've seen in my whole life I think.. We dropped out of the EU which is an L but if all these anti-immigrant guys were ignored again, never know what new type of ultra far right would manifest, we seen that possible story happen so many times in history.

Same ways real tangible jobs for the poorest white people don't seem to be there for the foreseeable future and I cant imagine an increase in uni numbers for them man as they have some of the lowest school achievement levels. The upward pressures on rent is not disappearing and people who have immigrated are not going to pack their bags and leave the unskilled jobs they are working.

Its fucked how not much is gonna change, this defo aint the last of this kinda sentiment

Should make people out of London have to apply for a visa to work in London after Uni.

#Yuppiesout #GetourLondonback #MakeLondongreatagain

Took me months to get a job after Uni because of these Northerners coming and taking all our jobs. Even had to queue up for a coffee at Costa last week.

Can I just add it was not just the ‘right’ ‘racist’ saying to exit the far left i.e the socialist workers party were also pushing for an exit vote. I doubt we will have far right groups roaming the streets attacking minorities. What will happen is just more frustration because those who based their vote on immigration we still see the same thing going on.

People better pray certain industries which are the life blood of certain communities do not up sticks and move to EU nations, not being bad mind but a part of me wants this to happen.

I came in to say this. The proper lefties i know of all voted leave. I've heard some of the arguements and they seem sound enough.

I've seen a few people on here talking about how lefties are fuming. No they're not.

This left-right simplistic stuff is asinine and in many was trivilises and attempts to tribalise the debate.

Independence Day party last night was fantastic,

Its a great indication of the anti-English people when they are calling for London to separate from the rest of the country,

Sadiq and bane are in good company, there intentions exposes them for the hatred they truly have for this country, they act like they want to better this nation but when your saying you want London to be part of the EU and not the rest of England you have exposed yourselves

Why dont you go live in Scotland as you have more in common with them, you dont like England so why stay here if your miserable, seems live you thrive on negativity
