Player power needs to be used for good here. 

 

They need to communicate and stick together.

 

Same goes for football teams. Tevez was public enemy at City till they realised they needed him playing; then all was forgotten...

 

Owners care about their profits. If the players make a "stand" here..so what if they don't get played. Fuck it. Live by your principles and enjoy your millions and respectable stance.

Although political protest should be kept away from work i doubt its a contractual requirement to stand for a national anthem. Still, i reckon the majority will buckle under the pressure and back down.

Players used to be in the locker room for this part baring special occasions (9/11 & Super Bowl)

Between 2012-2015 almost €7m was paid by dept of defence for "paid patriotism" to American sports teams. 

 

I also thought they made it a staple after Pat Tillman died but can't find anything on this now.

imagine the situation theyre in.

they are literally pawns now, from every direction, and theyre owners have switched the direction theyre pulling them in now so theyre in an even tougher spot

dont envy them at all, it's gone from protesting brutality against people of colour to disrespecting the flag and soldiers who have died and the NFL have wholeheartedly switched sides, I guarantee government departments have spoken to them and told them they must stop them kneeling seeing as DoD pays for patriotism and soldier homecoming events at games.

Now it's down to these poor players to choose sides in this new version of the game that got downloaded and updated without their consent.

You're 100% right, which is why I also highlighted the "Brave" part.

The owners can put any sanctions they like, but since the league is 70% black, if all 70% actually knelt those sanctions would mean less than nothing.

In regards to the particular subject they may take issue, but then that would reaffirm the point. I remember a few years Ibrahimovic getting fake tattoos all over his body to highlight a cause he believed in. No one had anything to say about that. This suggests that if it's a cause that they believe to be just or beneficial to them then they'll allow it without question
