most people have to talk about things to fix them or get over them

loads of people get upset at the mention of race, regardless of whether its with bad intent, racist or not - if people express they've felt offence, then those who perhaps didn't mean offence might take note, and maybe say they didn't mean offence, explain where they were coming from, and then the offended part may not feel upset, and may be less likely to be upset in the future, or the party who caused offence might choose their words better in the future as to not offend

We are obv not inherently racist.& the value of talking about it is in educating people so they can understand race is a construction rather than a biological reality.

This is the elephant in the room

Complete failure to acknowledge that race is not a real thing and therefore subscribing to white or black identity is a worthless endeavour.

If this elephant is acknowledged the whole conversation changes, the way people value themselves changes drastically. The sad thing is is that change is the only path out of racism

I disagree

perhaps the idea of racial identity is a manmade construct but that doesn't mean its not a real thing, whether you subscribe to the identity or not, others will subscribe you to it

the idea of "looking past race" is a lovely idea to talk about, but its not a reality that you can be applied to the masses, and it wouldn't be fair to completely look past it until something closer to equality among races is achieved (as to say: if all people stopped caring about race tomorrow, certain races would still be at a disadvantage due to past racial discriminations)

You're thinking about it the wrong way. Differences in people exist but race is just a stupid and illogical way of looking at those differences

I agree with this. I don't mean to say look past race but you do have ro detach yourself from a reality where as a "black" person you are associated with literally everything negative, every word preceded by the word black which existed before black people were labelled as such

We who live in countries where we are the minority identify in particular with the black identity because this black and white reality exists here. When you talk to people who grew up in black majority countries they do not first identify themselves as black because ot was never a necessity. They will be Nigerian for example first, African next and maybe black

To be black is to identify with a struggle that only exists because white identity exists which by extension is always superior, pure, perfect, angellic

Unconscious bias is fed by the entire race narrative. It has to be confronted in order for it to be broken down

I just think that part of educating people against racism should include the reasons why these labels hold them back. Its not a simple issue by any means

Race is an invention. Black people are not faster than whites. A Somali has never won a 100m international competition.

this is true.

My opinion is Race is a man made construct, and racism is a mental illness, akin to tribalism.

stereotypes are not always racist. Man is a creature of habit, and habit forms part of a people's culture

almost all cultures have particular different traits which for a non mentally ill person will be celebrated and for a mentally ill ignoramus will fit into their racist minds

As racial structure in its current form was an invention of the European...as a result, every European offspring has been infected with the mental illness of racism

As such, some other 'races' have adopted this structure and have equally self harmed.

Tribalism is almost similar to the Modern construct of race, but is much older and still exists around the world.
