DM have just dangled their trigger bait article

Showroom interior shots, as if residents will be moving into anything furnished like so.

Ain't even read the comments but you already know how thats going to pan out.

it has started.. the gambinos have been fuming at this. "what do real britons ever get"

and apparently those offered these flats will not have access to the leisure facilities...well unless they pay the £15000 service charge per year.

so like, Im no builder or planner, but, can they just switch the panels like that? and if so how many deemed safe because they contracted to get safe ones done dont have the proper cladding?

No they can't, there will be a contract stipulating the materials. The builder will have switched them to increase profit margin.

Assuming that building standards are similar to aerospace manufacturing. They will need to comply with the drawing requirements. Any significant deviation they'll need to speak to the designers to, confirm if the alternative cladding can be used as an alternative. The drawings will have to change. If the design engineers say no, they cannot deviate, period!

The police need to be freezing bank accounts locking down company assets and raiding offices tbh

Defo from companies are removing things from their website to disassociate themselves with the grenfell tower, who knows what they're doing with the paperwork

I think they're doing the right thing. A tragedy occurred. They've found other unsafe properties that need to be made right. Can they run the risk of another fire occurring and then knowingly being culpable. No. It is what it is unfortunately.

At least they are taking action

None of this is good enough tbh

Legally, they are obligated to take action

The local authorities and possibly the contractors have broken the law

At minimum they should be putting these people up in hotels and passing the costs on either to the contractors who carried out work using materials that weren't authorised for use or they should be bearing the brunt of the cost themselves if they tried to cut corners by authorising work with dangerous materials

Residents have been evacuated after a fire broke out on the top floor of an east London block of flats.

A man has been taken to hospital to be treated for the effects of breathing in smoke at the four-storey building on Turin Street, Bethnal Green.

Smoke was "pouring out of every window of the block" as flames engulfed the flat and spread to the roof, according to an eyewitness.

Bethnal Green Road has been closed as 72 firefighters tackle the blaze.

It is unclear how the fire started.

Round the corner from me. It was only on one of the top floor flats on fire, whole block is only like 3/4 floors tall.  When I saw it I thought it would have been contained easily. Didnt know it spread like that afterwards

edit. yeah didnt spread
