Little simz and Dave winning Brit awards.

Mo the comedian presenting the Brit awards.

Big narstie having his own show on channel 4.

Fredo,Dave etc performing at the Brits.

Tion Wayne and Russ doing their thing

D block Europe having their videos looking like they were made by professional American directors for tens of thousands.

I remember for years we used to have debates on here about the UK rap scene/road rap/grime scene and how comes it never blew and why it was so lack luster. I even remember people saying the French scene was much better and at the time I agreed.

I never saw this happening.

There's so many avenues and opportunities and money to be made now days and it's great to see.

Irony is that although there is some decent music out there, it is also the era of poor poor music.

Tiktok drill is one of the worst creations to come out of the uk urban scene in history.

That tik took shit is also the best crossover/commercial black music to come out the UK since at least So Solids little run.

The days of seeing Rolldeep, Dizzee, Tinchy, Tiny and Chip embarrassing themselves with commercial songs to make a small buck are long gone. (Skepta too)

For me the drill sound right now is similar to where UKG was crossing over to Grime sound wise as no one has dared to make a different drum pattern… when their version of Pulse X drops with out that hi hat it should change the game.

Rap as a whole outside the big names that do big numbers is pooor, most those videos on Pressplay, Mixtape Madness etc… with 100k + views are are all worse lyrically then grime crew era and as I said all the beats sound the same. Feel sorry for road rap era guys as they were good lyrically but with poor production in a time where there was no money compared to today and they don’t have the nostalgia factor of grime guys.
