  1. Those who put themselves through education at an older age are often far more dedicated and invested in their course because they have taken the time to strategise how furthering their education will benefit their lives and career. LOL @ believing that someone who goes into university as a mature student is somehow a loser.
  2. Sorry, I meant when some religious people aggressively push what they believe the Lord thinks down other people's throats.
  3. Religion and science aren't mutually exclusive so I don't understand why both parties go out of the way to PISS EACHOTHER OFF. I know several people who are religious and study or work in science, believing that science is the answer to how. Furthermore, not everyone who has faith or spiritual belief follows religious texts there are those who have the same stance as atheists when it comes to these books and question what is written. Furthermore, it makes me laugh that many atheists are so anti-religion because of the zealots who say aggressively push their views on what the Lord thinks down other people's throats. That is fair enough, but when those anti-religion guys are being so forceful of their own beliefs and get angry because someone chooses to question it. LOL. If we want to progress into an enlightened world we should at least to try andf debate logically or just politely disagree with other people's views. f*ck*ng hell.
  4. I type like such a dunce, in conclusion I think Harrison could handle himself in a fight on road. Just because he isn't the best boxer it doesn't mean he's a sh*t fighter.
  5. Boxing can be quite mentally streneous (sp), I'm sure the reason Harrison stood out from being the 'average brawleer' as a youngster was because on a street level he's much better than average. He's just not that great in the ring when it comes to the sport, he went from his win at the olympics to professional career boxing far too quickly. Boxing isn't the same anymore, I'm glad its still such a popular sport though.
  6. Voters were being extremely naïve when they chose to believe that the lib dems would successfully scrap fees when they came into power. It was such a blatant lie to ensure that they could strongarm themselves some seats. Scrapping fees completely is not at all viable, its extremely expensive and would take years to implement therefore university voters wouldn't even benefit. I hope that the lib dem HQ gets more of a battering than the tories did, not because I'm a conservative supporter but due to the fact that I would rather know my devil. Unless you don't understand even basic British politics you know when you vote tory you are voting for a right thinking, staid party almost hell bent on austerity. The lib dems are a limp d*cked wolf in sheep's clothing, masquerading as ultra liberal and 'forward thinking' but instead taking the first opportunity to jump into bed with anyone who offers them the chance to wield power. Yuck.
  7. JGGB, what sort of internship/or work are you looking to do? Done quite a bit of work in the media (mostly print).
  8. They were handing out the shortlist yesterday in victoria @ skola. Maybe they leave their distribution (sp) to the bigger stations as I also hadn't seen it in ages.
  9. Also, have a very clear and distinctive 'sound'. New Year 2009 was made especially good because it was all motown, funky and mainstream based. People knew what to expect (I was also up north).
  10. Girls free before a certain time and make the guys pay like £10-12 to get in (you could go higher, it is NYE). That way, you control the 'quality' of women who do come in and guys will be willing to pay out a bit extra for entry as there will be some sort of guarantee it won't be a sausage fest and they won't have to make a momentary lapse into homosexuality. Offering cheap entry isn't always best as people are often quite dubious of something that is 'too much of a good offer'. Much luck.
  11. I totally understand the whole 'freedom of speech/the right to laugh' thing but there are SO many stories around like you should know tweeting something like this would be considered evocative a may provoke a reaction. And I tweet some pretty messed up crap (like a lot of people), he needs to just take it on the chin. His tweet was dry also. Come on dude, going to waste money on legal fees for THAT.
  12. Beavis I feel the same and I work in the industry! I cringe when I have to read or watch some aspects of the news, but I force myself to watch and investigate as much as I can. Sometimes it feels like an ordeal LOL.
  13. I like to lurk on the forum but never post, thought I'd start a topic for a change. Don't know if this has been done before but I know its a subject that can start debate. Back in the day newspapers used to be a mark (of sorts) of someone's political meanings but now since the Metro is free and the internet being so availiable its hard to decipher whose stance is what. SOOOOO...what magazines and newspapers do you read? I don't usually buy papers but online I will nosey at; The Guardian (some newspaper full of fluff to me though), Mirror, the Sun and the daily mail (usually for the craic though). Read the telegraph sometimes, used to like the Independent but its fell off a bit to me. The main magazine/comic I will buy is The Viz, buy the annuals and everything I never read it and think 'NOTHING WAS FUNNY'. Bought the Private Eye a few times but don't find it THAT funny. I really the Big Issue as not only does it encouraging working for a good cause its very interesting. I like to get a comprehensive look at the news so I try to read and watch loads of different things despite my leanings. Edit: As I finished my post I realised this topic is more fun when you do it on websites you look at LOL. Sorry.
  14. What is this bullshit? Allow taking your e-fights to the streets. Imagine explaining your ruckus to a passing police officer;'Why are you two scrapping?''Man called me a prick on Vip2, I wasn't having it copper'. You lot should be embarrassed, your life is obviously a frigging par. If your mothers are still of reproductive age tell her to swallow next time.
  15. She doesn't do it on a regular basis and looking at her and the child there are no obvious signs of neglect (house is clean and so are they). However, abuse isn't always obvious is it? And I think though what she is doing could be deemed as 'normal scummy' behaviour the cycle needs to be broken so she is aware that sh*t like that isn't right.
  16. How is oit scummy people live? Part of me thinks there is no point grassing as her choices are more to do with lifestyle; she has sex with random men in front of her child, let's known drug dealer and general bad lads use her place as a doss house. That sort of thing. She also smokes weed and drinks whilst caring for the child and has slapped it up a few times (not serious but the child is under 3 years old so its a tad unneccessary in my eyes). FYI I didn't say I would snitch on her, I just used benefit cheats as an example of whether or not it is ever acceptable to grass.
  17. Yes because its important to be pedantic on an internet forum. Its clear the thread is about grassing in general. You don't have to answer the questions, you can close the thread and keep it moving.
  18. That's what I thought (@ necksta) but even then some people have called in to doubt approaching social services. Also, one of the way she is endangering her child would notify the authorities of her scummy benefit cheat ways.
  19. Really I should have led with the whole social services matter as its causing me the most worry. Many sections of my family have drummed in the fact that social services are child snatchers, I've given them the scenario about the woman I know and what danger the child is in but get dirty looks for even the questioning the rule. You just don't tell tales is what I'm always told.
  20. If we are honest, at the very root this could be deemed as snitching. However, as there is a code of honour that a lot of people live by where you don't grass even if what someone does is terrible aren't you letting some cretins take advantage and allowing their nasty behaviour to be deemed as acceptable. I was bought up with the rule that you don't tell tales, especially to the law. I'm starting to question this now as I've got older. Esecially since I've encountered a parent who regularly puts her child in danger because of who they socialise with. The icing on the cake is that they are a benefit cheat which annoys me more. Now because of that innate disgust that I get about the whole grassing matter I am reluctant t notify social services and calling the benefit cheat hotline is strictly a no no. Are the rules I am raised with causing more harm than good?
  21. This thread actually reminds me of the time I heard a white woman talking VERY LOUDLY about her son being accused of a crime and listening to the conviction in his voice that it was a case of mistaken identity (obviously guilty and deluded mother). She spoke for ages about her son's afro for some reason, what bike he was riding and his clothes. Then she said, 'the woman pointed him out as the boy who stole her bag, but what I don't get is most of the witnesses said the mugger was black TYLER IS MIXED RACE THOUGH!'
  22. The whole reason I created an account is to ask one question. I am guessing that the majority were raised under the school of thought of 'Thou Shalt Not Grass'. Therefore, most of you would never call the benefit cheats hotline andd notify 'Sue from Glasgow' that you know someone earning dosh on the side of their benefits. But are there ever any exceptions? Do some benefit cheats deserve to be ratted on? And more importantly, depending on how well you know the person, is it your job? Especially when we take the current climate into account does it PISS you off that though some of you might be taking a; cut in earnings/ a job loss etc someone else is benefitting from a system where many can live a life of leisure due to the hard work of others?
  23. I have been lurking on this forum for a few days and reading this thread I just wanted to add that a lot of white women who are going to have mixed raced children will have to be prepared to accept that their kids will find it easier to associate themselves as black. Unfortunately, their view of themselves will be shaped by society's perception of them and mixed raced people are still largely viewed as black. To get angry at your child because they see themselve as black because they are pushed into that category is to get mad at the wrong person. Your brown child is always going to be different from you and be treated a lot differently from you because there is usually an obvious contrast in appearance. Recently I found out someone I knew was mixed (half west african and half white), he just looks black and even though he was raised by his white mum he will probably be viewed as a black boy by society. Yes, raise your child so that they are aware of both heritages but be realistically as to what their racial experience will be. They are mixed raced, but will always be pushed into a certain category by the majority.
