most 720p sets can output 1080iil break it down for you:720p shows video frames at the full size of 1280 x 720whilst 1080i basiccly makes the machine work harder to output a 1920 x 1080 by having to keep showing top half of the frame and bottom half of the frame and keeps sticking it together.this is important for games like forza or gta , cause they wont look as half as good if you dont see in full frame.

You mean most 720p tv's can receive 1080i... The difference between progressive and interlaced is pretty irellevant on a 720p television because if you feed it 1080i it's just gonna downscale it and de-interlace it, so you were better off with 720p in the first place..If you got a 1080p tv there's some room for debate but on a 720p or 1080i (which are rare as f*ck) tv its pointless..oh yea and interlaced isn't bottom half and top half, it's every other line
