The days of seeing Rolldeep, Dizzee, Tinchy, Tiny and Chip embarrassing themselves with commercial songs to make a small buck are long gone. (Skepta too) For me the drill sound right now is similar to where UKG was crossing over to Grime sound wise as no one has dared to make a different drum pattern… when their version of Pulse X drops with out that hi hat it should change the game. Rap as a whole outside the big names that do big numbers is pooor, most those videos on Pressplay, Mixtape Madness etc… with 100k + views are are all worse lyrically then grime crew era and as I said all the beats sound the same. Feel sorry for road rap era guys as they were good lyrically but with poor production in a time where there was no money compared to today and they don’t have the nostalgia factor of grime guys.
