To my understanding, the Pac and Nas beef started when Pac was fresh out of jail and eager to make his double LP "All Eyez On Me." Pac wanted to make as much albums as he can so he could end his contract with Deathrow. Dr. Dre assisted in making the album; however, Pac got the drop about Dre working on Nas' album "It Was Written." Pac studied the works of Nas and bit one of Nas' tracks, which we know as "Street Dreams." Pac tried to pull a fast one by biting the beat, then coming out with his album first, before Nas. Nas got heated when Pac did that; niggas keep biting his styles, beats, concepts etc. Therefore, Nas came out with "The Message," dedicated to Tupac. Pac fully addressed Nas, Dre, and other rappers involved in the beef in his Makaveli album on the track "Against All Odds."
