Blue screen pops up :(

Hey People,Hope you can help me.I have a blue screen that comes up and shuts down my laptop and then restarts it.....? I'm using Vista home.Has anyone had this problem? If so what can i do to stop it from happening? I'm not a computer wizard so I'm a bit lost.Thanks.

Thanks, i will try these. I did install the new windows live. It just randomly started happening Blue screen of death does not sounds very hopeful! Thanks for your help.
