simenon has really good prep profile going into this race with his last race being a furlong less and on similar fast ground. jonny murtagh and mullins is a good combo for this race.and obv his dbl at royal ascot last year being a big positive. but those were class 2 races and thats a world away from group 1 races. it may be the form principals saddlers rock, colour vision and rite of passage have enough question marks around them this time but i would still expect times up and high jinx to do better as theyre used to mixing it up in top company. high jinx is yet to run on good to firm ground so thats a question mark, and a long string of close seconds in good races makes me think he doesnt have the killer instinct. Times Up stepped up last year to win 2 group 2s beating high jinx and a few others, has won several times on GF ground, and is entitled to have a stab at this further distance. If i can rule out saddlers and rite of passage this may be the one i go for. frankie dettori takes the ride for the first time, but he won this race last year on colour vision,is yet to get in the winners enclosure this year iirc and to win this race would probly make him the happiest man in the world and rekindle his career. currently 12/1 im taking a slice but may continue to back once my final decisions have been made about this race.

my favourite races to bet on is group/listed races 1m+ preferably a field of 10 or less runners... / how bout some discussion trying to arrive at a verdict? im at a loss to who is going to win the gold cup tomorrow, last year was easy and one of the highlights of my horse racing year, but this year im puzzled saddlers rock? rite of passage? someone else? whats up with colour vision? im going to have a serious go at the two races after the gold cup as well, and i will be backing Alive Alive Oh in the preceding race having not looked at the card yet, so u can give me any of those races but pref not the gold cup
