  1. Are many of you suggesting that when Black folk get locked up that it is because of a system geared against them?
  2. I'm fairness to the judge he apparently let another woman from a working class background, unacademic and did the exact same thing to her boyfriend as what this chick did. The girls father called in to LBC to explain this. If true the judge isn't showing class favouritism. Now whether he is showing white or female leniency is another argument but who knows.

That's only potentially if they have changed it over to another vessel like a sport cap bottle or something like that. If you are just rolling with some drain cleaner even if you have the clear intention to use it, as long as it's in its original bottle/container. You won't be done for anything.

The thing is that I don't understand what the Mo is for doing this. When someone jacks someone with a knife and takes their shit. It's a clear MO. This however and many other attacks like it just seem to be done for the sake of causing anarchy.
  5. No point jumping to conclusions. How much more flammable is aluminium? Only the experts can say. It looks dodgy but we don't know enough.
  6. I think they're doing the right thing. A tragedy occurred. They've found other unsafe properties that need to be made right. Can they run the risk of another fire occurring and then knowingly being culpable. No. It is what it is unfortunately.
  7. But whether someone has been ID'd or not dead is still dead. It's to desensitise the impact of the death toll which will eclipse the cumulative death toll from terrorist attacks in the last 15 years, with one incident. Time will pass. People will forget about Grenfell. If you hear day by day the death toil is 20, then 30, then 40, then 50 and so forth the psychological impact is less. The outrage nationwide would be less. If they came out on day 1 and said 200 people are dead from this the backlash would be worse. It's clearly managing the situation and the media.
  8. It's true. Why is there a gradually creeping death toll. You know at least 150 people are dead. Yet the death toll creeps up by 10 per day that passes. It's media management.
  9. Edit... just leaving it there.
  10. You felt so strong you had edit your post with those last 2 sentences for extra emphasis? Well done lad, grade A edit. if an Indian can come here with no money in his pocket. Work in a chicken shop while studying towards a qualification and living in some squalid conditions and a few years later be raking it then the shame is on you for not succeeding, taking the opportunity or seeing the value in what is available in this country. I work with a guy from Pakistan he's probably mid to late 30's. His parents weren't educated which in pakistan means you are poor. He studied hard in pakistan, saved money for a ticket and came to the UK around 15 years ago and worked some shitty jobs whilst studying towards an ACCA. Qualified as an accountant and contracts at my firm at £400 per day plus expenses. This is called hustling Poverty is a relative concept but this man would laugh at your definition of poverty and moreover would look at you with distain for saying this country is not filled with opportunities. You know when your mum tells you to finish your food because people are starving in Africa? Its a valid outlook and one that I recommend you take on board. I've raised money for Srilankan orphans. These kids have very little opportunity in a country without full social security systems in place. You should hang your head in shame. How can I be blind to the reality? I came from that reality. It wasn't long ago that I was completely broke, living in temporary accomodation for nearly a year sharing a room with my mentally ill mum (don't make any jokes about that, she's dead) and walking miles to school each because I didn't have bus pass money. I went off the rails like many people do in such circumstances but eventually got my direction right. It isn't always easy but I know first hand that it's doable and I am nothing special. I've seen others do similar things. I donate significant sums of money to charity such as UNICEF, save the children and Srilankan war orphan charities over the course of a year. Do you know why? Because they genuinely lack the opportunities/support and there a cycle of poverty perpetuates without intervention/help. if you don't see the opportunities you're the one with his "eyes glued the fuck shut" and lacking a "fucking clue". and as big an advocate as you are for the plight of these people. Have you put your hand in your pocket or volunteered for them or is your outrage reserved only for the forum? anyway this will only develop in to another back and forth so I will just say I disagree with your stance and you disagree with mine. But we are both approaching the topic from our personal perspectives, you now see my point but in all seriousness I am curious to understand more about why you have your perspective and happy to take that to PMs.
  11. Allow the insults firstly. Scandinavia and Canada aside, I think Britain is up there. Though I will admit that the ratio of wealthy to poor has reduced which indicates things have worsened since the 80s. But are you legitimately telling me this country is devoid of opportunities to progress so long as you work hard?
  12. I said I would leave it there and I am. I'm agreeing with Grafter. This was a tragedy. The causality of the tragedy is the debate and where we have differing opinions but we all agree on the end result and what this was. But I am going to say one thing. Those painting me as some establishment crony or lacking empathy for the victims and those affected couldn't be further from the Truth. I donated to the Grenfell dispossessed fund and stopped colleagues typing and continuing phone conversations during the 1min silence. I just have different opinions on what needs to be fixed is all.
  13. I made a point. You disagree with the perspective. In stead of conversing or debating, you insulted me. What response did you think you were going to get. Ive relented on many points where convincing arguments were made. I don't stick to a point if I think it is wrong. You however just decided to sling mud in what I can only presume is GSCE D grade English. Additionally I don't see why people are getting so emosh. I said that non Grenfell residents standing up and using this for a wider political agenda such as education, jobs, policing are soap boxing and this detracts from the actionable change that needs to happen immediately to ensure people are safe in their homes. Now I see people are talking cause and effect (I.e. These people died because they are poor and they are poor because of jobs, education etc...). While I agree they died because they are poor it is because the local authority didn't give a shit about fire safety or the basic safety needs of the poor. I relented on my initial stance and agreed with this. But non Grenfell residents standing up and talking about these wider issues are talking like this is the Sudan. There is free at source education, healthcare and for our poorest, housing. Have you seen the German ghettos or French? We look after our people far better and my stance has been all along that while things are not perfect and we need to continue to improve. For any able minded and bodied individual the opportunities to succeed exist. i actually voted labour to end austerity and make things easier for the poor and make social programs more accesible and prevalent. A smart vote would have been Tory if all I cared about was my net pay (torys weee cutting the higher rate). But stance is. This is one of the greatest countries for social mobility and anyone can make it and I am all for making that easier. This has been one massive tangent in the conversation. So I'm going to leave it there.
  14. FYI not your bro. Ok little buddy? You're implying I'm gay? Or do you not know what that word means?
  15. Wow you had to really scroll back to dig this post and develop your well thought out response. Well done you basic c*nt. Such a waste little d*ckhead. I don't take you seriously. Say what you want to get forum ratings as you did in your initial post insulting me rather than engaging in any meaningful discussion. You are and mean nothing.
  16. But why do the people that have not been affected by Grenfell need empathy or sympathy. They haven't lost everything, lost children, loved ones and friends. It's like when your dad dies and some d*ckhead says "yeah I really miss my grandma." Looking for that bit of spotlight to tell their "sob" story. It isn't their time. The time is for Grenfell is putting all current efforts in to helping those people that remain get back on their feet.
  17. I agree on the last point. It is political. I admit but can't be as wide ranging as many of the arguments have been.
  18. See this is where I disagree again. When the previous guy came out and said "we don't want be be foresaken so the rich can have a nice view" this is relevant. This is right. This is poignant. And this I can back. Policing, jobs and education have nothing to do with Grenfell and it's where people use this tragedy to push a much wider socio-economic agenda that I have an issue. and the point i made all along was that people using the above wider socio-economic debate to justify their own difficulties need to step back.
  19. No one said that. Or maybe I misinterpreted. Either way. I get it.
  20. We're agreed then. You're the only one that has given me an answer. I take the point and stance and agree with it. My issue was with those who were using the situation for gain or a soap box unrelated to the situation. Your statement is very related to the situation and I wholeheartedly agree. No one else actually came out with anything other than something akin to "viva la revolution".
  21. But what is the end game for social change? I see fire safety as the priority. End game there is sprinklers, fire alarms, non flammable cladding etc... ensuring people are safe. what do people want from social change. More investment? More money? More jobs? More recognition? More housing. It's all over the place and lacks focus or any measurability.
  22. If the people I grew up with are criminals, drug addicts, drug dealers or on benefits or even worse those who were smart and had potential and squandered it to be road. The yes of course I am better. Its nothing to do with money. It's to do with drive and strength of character.
  23. I don't think I am better for moving tax brackets FYI. I think I am better than excuse makers jumping on air to say "there are no opportunities" or related shit like that. When this detracts from what the issue is primarily which is unsafe buildings which thousands of people live in. I relented on my point which was that these people didn't die because they were poor, I'm big enough to listen to the arguments made and it is clear that if these were private flats a lot more care over fire safety would have been taken. So I backed away from that point and said I was wrong in my initial stance. what I won't back away from is what I deem to be disgusting behaviour in people trying to use this tragedy to push agendas that have nothing to do with what happened or at best are tenuously linked. Such as talking about jobs and opportunities. These as wastemen who are trying to promote their own agenda or grievances with society. How will actionable change happen if every man and their dog uses Grenfell as a symbol for what is wrong with society or worse yet use this as an example as to why their life is not fine and dandy and they deserve better. Even though they are not Grenfell residents. I was saying these folks need to look in the mirror and think is the quality of their life in their control. Stop excuse making and take action! This wasn't addressing the people who lost their lives or lost all their worldly possessions and got a sheg 5k offer from the government. These are two different sets of people I was referring to and its former who I will gladly say, yes, I am better than them. Not because of bank balances, not because of job but because I worked hard to improve my quality of life and don't use the tragedies of others to make excuses. Its the same as a kid in school saying "the teachers don't help me because I'm black". It's excuse making and irrelevant. Yet this and waste but someone using Grenfell in the same manner is not?
