It was only because they beat Liverpool. He was never comfortable on the ball. The game was too physical and fast for him and he never really made the effort to win the ball back when disposessed. Ended up loping around the middle of the park looking lost. Yeh he did get injured though and Jose shipped him off along with Crespo the following year.

his game was never about winning the ball but for united he did look lost sometimesthe only times that he really played well was when we had 1 upfront and veron and scholes just behindthats when you saw his classlike against spurs the 5-3 gamea few games away in europe, i think paok....he did score nearly 20 goals in 50 games from midfield and win the league....just the price we bought him for was madness coz we didnt need him and fergie didnt know how to play him

Think it was about 15 in 50. Which is better than average. In the english game though if you are going to lose the ball, you need to win it back. Everything is so fast and counter attacking that you can't just misplace a pass or get bullied off the ball and then trot back to the centre circle. And that's what he ended up doing a lot of the time. That's not the same as being a ball winner in midfield imo.

Its difficult for South Americans coming to England, Uruguay to Manchester is a bit of a culture shock.If any place in England it has to be London cos London is a cosmopolitan city.I saw Forlan before he came to Man U and he is 1 of the most talented footballers ive ever seen, not even hyping, he could shoot for Recoba type distances with both feet, scored some ridiculous goals for Man U for those who remember, Rangers CL and Southampton 2 top corners last 5 mins.Fergie never gave him a proper chance, 1 thing with Fergie he dont know how to deal with certain types of players, he's not the best at man management if the player aint headstrong ie: Keane or CantonaPeople think Rooney is a good player if they saw some of the things Forlan can do, they are not even in the same league technique wise.

Joe Cole is wasted on the wing but where do you play him? Behind the striker woud be his best position but not many teams play with players given a free role. Anyway Forlan - No he's risk and an expensive one at that, why risk 15 mil on a risk when you can spend 5 mil on a risk?. Forlan would be sick at united now though his link up with rooney would be sick. Forget Villareal tho he's scored some serious bangers for Uraguay.
