Lee Van Cleef Posted September 4, 2007 Report Share Posted September 4, 2007 is there a site that uses the google engine but is on a different server ?i have somehow managed to stop google from working although other sites work , and i cant search efficiently using other search engines like yahoo etc . any help is greatly appreciated . I'll be a lil bit worried.As for the search engine, as you have probably worked out now.You cant find a site that can do what GOOGLE does without using GOOGLE themselves.No one is going to copy or probably knows the full algorithm that makes up GOOGLE.As for your question on the location of the host file..It's in Windows\System32\drivers\etcEdit it with Notepad. You probably already know this...UAC will always bitch and compain in Vista as your editing a system file. So make sure you have the rights. So make sure you have the rights.thanks , i tried it , no luck . i am installing xp today , not just because of this but vista is just useless anyway . UAC is ridiculous , even when i turn it off , it warns me that i should turn it on every time i log in . and certain files that need to be deleted in order for me to reinstall a program , it doesn't let me delete them . and you can try everything it wont work . . .
