prob just go for the serato sl1,

it easy enough to record using a macbook?

you can jus use a "phono to 3.5mm" cable to go from ya mixer "Aux out" port to your "mic" on your mac like I used to do before I got the TTM. You can jus use any audio software to record like wavelab, soundforge, etc.

Must admit tho my serato is bless for playing Hip Hop, RnB, bashment etc,

cos of the "pull ups" and scratchin and stuff,

but lately when playin house music (especially electro, tech and minimal)

Ive been using Ableton and the Akai APC 40....Feel like Im cheating though cos Im not usuing decks,

but the effects....f*ck OFF!! LOL

There is no difference between sl3 & sl1 when it comes to sound quality, sl3 just has a few extras (3rd deck & recordability). Only difference you'll notice if if the mp3 are weak quality. For a mac, the latency can be 0% but for pcs with 64 bit systems (vista & 7) then you have to have it on 5% because the little f*cker gives usb drop outs (5% is nothing, some split second delay).

TBH, serato is sick, but better with a controller if you're doing more than beat mixing, like the denon controller.

Edit

Serato now have effects, which add that little extra.
