No they wouldn't. If you sent your phone in for repair with a faulty connector, they would just send you out a new one as it would be uneconomical to repair. I doubt the police will go to such lengths to get a phone engineer to re-solder a new usb connector just for the sake of obtaining information of a potential suspect in custody. Who would foot the bill?

Destroying pin 3 and 4 on the micro usb connector on your phone will make it a charging only port. Police will be puzzeled as to why they can't extract the data.

The best tablet out at the moment is the Asus Prime Transformer. Ultra thin, running 4.0 Ice cream sandwich and it comes with an attachable keyboard to fool people in thinking its a netbook/laptop. The Motorola Zoom 2 is a close 2nd in my opinion.

BBC Iplayer is quite impressive. The SD stream is quite clear, the HD version is even better.

The consumer version is sh*t. Even after installing a start button I just found it too clumsy, re-installed 7 back.
