GENERAL INFO:- The game is set to be released on November 13th - There will be NO PLAYABLE DEMO for Assassin's Creed - There will be no online/multi-player/co-op, but there will be DLC - The main character's name is Altair (pronounced All-Tye-Ear); his weapon of choice for his assassinations is a switchblade hidden in his left hand - As part of the initiation process into the Assassins, Altair's left ring finger was removed and the switchblade was installed. - Altair is a master assassin but is disgraced and stripped of this title at the start of the game. The mission that disgraces him is the first mission of the the game. - The story takes place in 1191AD, during the Third Crusade - The game has been in development for over 4 years - This game was first introduced for the Xbox 360 as "Project Assassins"; it was then announced as a PS3 exclusive under the name "Assassin's Creed"; then it was announced as a multi-system title - This game is confirmed to be released on the 360, PS3, PC and the Nintendo DS - This is the first of three games in this series - The control scheme for this game is different than what most of us are used to and aims to make gameplay more fluid. Each face button controls a corresponding body part. The Y/triangle buttons will control Altair's head, the X/square buttons control the weapon hand, the B/circle buttons control the free hand and the A/X (PS3) buttons will control the feet. The triggers/top buttons will increase/decrease the intensity of your actions (gently push bystanders out of the way or tackle them). - Jumping is automatic - There is a futuristic element to the story of Assassin's Creed. However, it is NOT time travel. - This game is aimed at capturing a sense of realism. A lot of focus has been placed on the environment, ensuring that anything that sticks out 2in or farther is interactive - Each NPC is randomized, meaning there will never be two NPCs that look the same. Additionally, each NPC has individual AI - There is a realistic health system; meaning if you are hit with a fatal blow from an enemy (say, a blow to the head), it is just that -- fatal. To counterbalance this, there is an intuitive blocking system - There are three cities in the game: Acre, Damascus and Jerusalem; as well as an Assassin's Stronghold, Masyaf. Each city is designed based on historical documents from the 3rd Crusade - Between each city, there is an expanse of countryside - There are 4 main weapons in the game: Longsword, Shortsword, Throwing knives, and the Wrist Blade. There will also be specialized equipment (gloves, boots, etc) that will be upgradeable/changeable as the game progresses. As of this time, however, there are no changeable costumes - The soundtrack will be composed by Jasper Kyd - There is a series of books planned based on Assassin's Creed. The first book, The Invisible Imam, is set for release on October 30th - Altaïr is voiced by actor Philip Shahbaz. - It is rated M for blood, strong language and violence - There are 9 main assassination within the game, three per city; each assassination consists of three phases: investigation, assassination, and escape - There are over 12000 character animations for Altair alone - You have the ability to kill NPCs; however, there is a penalty for doing so. You will lose on third of your health for each NPC attacked. - You have the ability to complete any mission at any time; you are also free to abandon a mission and start/continue a previous one without penalty - Social stealth will be incredibly important in this game; follow the social rules and you will win the favor of the crowd. This will make the game progress easier for you. Break the social rules and create chaos, and you will make some enemies who will do everything they can to mess with you (throwing rocks, blocking escape routes, etc) - To begin/end a mission, you will have to go to an assassin's bureau located within the cities. You will have to bring back a white feather stained with the targets blood as proof you completed your mission. - This game will use interactive cutscenes, meaning you will always have control over Altair and the camera even during cutscenes - There are numerous sidequests to be completed in the game, including collecting flags scattered around the cities and hunting down 60 Templars - There are horses in this game - Altair cannot swim - There are no invisible boundaries; any place you can see can be reached. However, some of your map will be blocked off until you climb to an indicated viewpoint, then the map will open. - This game uses HUDs. There has been no confirmation as to whether or not you can disable them - There has been no confirmation of weather or night/day cycles - You social meter will indicate your social status within the city you are in: red means you have been spotted and are most likely being pursued, yellow indicates when you have lost your pursuers but they are still looking for you and white indicates that you are once again anonymous and safe to continue - This is an action-adventure game, not a stealth game - This is not Prince of Persia and has nothing to do with Prince of Persia aside from its developers - The characters of AC speak four languages: Italian, French, German and English - There are no paths in Assassin's Creed
