I think they sort it out for you, but that means you are limited to what they pick. If you sort it out early, then you can find somewhere yourself and have greater choice and freedom over where you live. My friend goes Brunel, and I think he sorted out his own accomadation, because he told me from a couple months back that he already had his placement set and where he was living. At the end of it, I think if it's in London or close to your campus they probably will. In fact, I think you will be allowed, but if your placement is in Ipswich or somewhere outside London, you're better off finding housing in those areas.
