Inner-city neighbourhoods to be given power to hold 'street courts' in bid to tackle gangs of feral youths

New ‘vigilante lite’ street courts are to be introduced nationwide to give residents the chance to curb ‘feral’ gangs of youths who bring terror to towns and cities.

Home Secretary Theresa May is to announce plans next month to set up ‘neighbourhood justice panels’ in England and Wales.

The panels will allow local residents to haul vandals, hooligans and other offenders before them, make them say sorry and force them to pay compensation or repair any damage they have caused.

The aim is to give local people a chance to administer ‘homemade’ justice in their own area – bypassing formal courts, judges and magistrates – and shame offenders into seeing the error of their ways.

The scheme, which has strong support from David Cameron’s director of strategy, Steve Hilton, has been unofficially dubbed ‘vigilante lite’ by some Government advisers.

= Basically the Government trying to save money once again

there was a next article about security guards being allowed to hand out £80 fines.............. these are all things that the Government and Police currently do

what happens with this "Street Court" sh*t when someone gets put on "trial" in a Muslim area, they going to draw for the Sharia Law and chop a mans hand off??

they can't control it

they mite as well let people become vigilante and deal with there sh*t the right way, not some neighbourhood watch pensioners who got bullied when they were younger acting brave for once in there pathetic lonely lives.
