Now what is the point of doing this? Well a horcux will allow you to live on after you have been killed due to the fact that the person killing you has not killed all your soul. the same goes for accidental death as well. The reason voldemort didnt die when trying to kill harry potter is because he had seven horcruxes which kept his soul alive. That is seven horcruxes in seven different objects. The diary in chamber of secrets was one horcrux. As evidenced in chamber of secrets horcruxes can be destroyed. Now, my question to you is, if you had the power to create a horcrux by tearing your soul by commiting an evil act like murder and placing it into an object (practically guarenteeing immortality) would you do it? would you do it if you didnt have to commit an evil crime to tear your soul? How many horcuxes would you make? And what object/s would you place it in and where would you hide them? and for the linguistical smarties the correct spelling of the plural of horcrux is horcruxi. At least with movies you can jump in a sofa/bed and relax and look at the screen. With an eBook or other reading material we'd have to be glued to our screens with our eyes fixated on a single piece of text for hours on end. I'd rather just buy it, it's not even that expensive.
