After suffering properly you gain wisdom, which resides with your soul. If you are getting rid of your soul you are forgetting all the lessons you have learned and therefore with lack of wisdom you will be doing the same sh*t for years to come i.e voldemort, so yeh its good to be immortal then you can be stupid forever.
