Guest Its Me Bitches Posted September 14, 2007 Report Share Posted September 14, 2007 Sven Goran Eriksson has marked his return to club football by being named Manager of the Month for August, while Micah Richards is Player of the Month.The Swede led Manchester City to wins in his opening three Premier League games, without conceding a goal.Eriksson saw City beat West Ham United 2-0 away in his first competitive match in charge before a 1-0 home success over promoted Derby County.A goal from summer signing Geovanni then earned Eriksson a memorable home triumph in the derby against champions Manchester United.Though the 100 per cent record came to an end via a 1-0 defeat at Arsenal, it did not prevent the former England coach from collecting the first managerial accolade of the new season.In addition to a positive start results-wise, Eriksson has also presided over a major overhaul of the City squad.ImperiousHe signed eight new players before the close of the transfer window after making early use of new owner Thaksin Shinawatra's investment.Meanwhile, teenage defender Richards has scooped the Player of the Month honour after a series of commanding performances for City.Richards has partnered Richard Dunne in central defence for his club this season and delivered a particularly imperious display against United.This month, he has also sparkled at right-back for England and scored his first international goal in last week's 3-0 win over Israel at Wembley.
