You see when u have a dynamic ip, u unplug the modem, plug it back in and u have a new ip.well i found a quicker way to do this, i simply went to my modem settings at http://192.168.1.1 and changed my password, then changed it back to the corect...but now i get the error, "internal system error".so i can't even change the pass, and therefore i can not download the new heroes without waiting an hour between each part. Do you know any way to change the ip through modem settings, any help is greatly appreciated....and i cant turn off the modem and turn it back on because it takes about half an hour to start working properly again.............

Your IP (public) is assigned to you by your ISP which is conrolled by a router in your local exchange,A reset of your router will trigger that ISP router to assign you another IP from a pool of thousends of possible IP's pretty similar to how if you was to plug in a new PC into your router it will assign your pc with a random dinamic IP (private) address, usually in the 192.168.x.x/24 rangean ipconfig /release/renew will probably not get you a new IP address assigned to you.yes I know its an explanation without an answer but this is what I do for a living so bleh

so you are saying you can't access 192.168.1.1if thats the case find reset button on your router and hold it in for like 15-20 seconds, it will reset it back to default, and all the opened ports nad static ip settins will have gone
i can access it but i can not make any changes, but i'll give that a try anyway, thx.

Surely that command prompt command just changes your local ip adress..
nah it does it properly .... i did this 25 times to download vista rtm off of rapidshare when i had XP.doesnt work in vista though.
If your on Virgin & use their modem or aint behind a router (Computer > Modem > Internet) it'll work but if your using a router it'll only change the local IP address
