Ok, well what I meant was, I feel theres too many of these phoney courses and educational qualifications going around. Obviously I can understand GNVQs or apprenticeships being viable alternatives to your conventional GCSE-A Level-Degree routes, and I understand why people would seriously want to take them. What I dont understadn however, is why people would be interested in doing any form of education in a fast food restaurant.Education should be avalible to ALL, and there should be a wide selection of courses avaible to people of all different levels, but things have gone too far when they are persuading people to do McDegrees, when you could probably persuade them SAME people, to get an alternative, much more useful, qualification. If its trying to address the population of newcomers to the country, then again, it should encourage these people to seek alternative methods of leaning the English language and adding numbers together. That couldnt all fit into the title though, but thats kinda what I mean now. So lets forget the irrational comments made earlier please.

if course makes it easier for a cashier to understand basic maths without counting her fingers its a blessing not phoney as it helps all of us and if it makes them understand english better its DEFINATELY BETTER.unfortunately it means that people that are qualified with a levels or nvqs thinking they made it in life HAVE TO STEP THEIR GAME UPallow being happy that some people are uneducated for ever this gives them a stepping stone.

If a cashier cant count, they shouldnt be a cashier. Simple.

I have worked in retail beore, for about 3 years while at college and first year of uni. I didnt encounter people who lacked BASIC skills, but I dont need to encounter them, nor do I need to work in retail, to know they exist. And I feel if these people work in McDs and lack basic skills in maths or English, then they have the right, infact as much if not MORE, of a right, to a proper standard of education to ensure they get the help they need, and deserve. I dont feel McDonalds could provide this, and even if they could, I feel society owes them more than that. I think its just a way of tryong to get private companies to provide a service that the government should be providing for these people.

RIGHTokay then so basically are you for or against it cos maybe im wrong i get the impression that you are against whether it comes from the government or mcdonalds or their rich step dad its another avenue to get it the more ways of getting education the better i mean consider this.a man from a country overseas who is BROKE can now work in mcdonalds get paid and get a START at education the truth is had he gone the acadmic route without mcdonalds chances are MAYBE he couldnt go the government route due to other complications concerning his visa and him not being aloud to study FULL TIME as he is living with his rent being paid by housing benefit (check that out you cant study full time if you are in receipt of housing benefit).WAY I SEE ITwork at mcdonalds AND get qualifications f*cking great if you dont have any.no way can that be wrong

tbh i think more companies (ie football clubs + multinationals) shud have schemes in line with the govt helping education and so forth, for instance the cunts shud already be taxed higher instead of always taxing ME on petrol, alcohol, chicken and council tax etc.take it out on the big guy for once,he can afford it.i know privatisation of these services is not ideal if unregulated but i think its a good idea if more companies are prompted into having schemes that will benefit the community surrounding them.not evry1 is fortunate enough to have ready access to education or be in a position to afford full time studying, despite being hardworking and capable.thats wat equal oppurtunities is all about man, give the little guy a chance, for instance one day u mite be working in mcdonalds and education on the menu may well be the burger you relish.have a heart man,i beg of you, have a soul there people too imo

whats wrong with that
Exactly. And like I've said before - all education is, is how much can you soak up information then regurgutate it on paper. Its a system that can be manipulated. These people that are going to be doing these "McA-Levels" would never have done "proper" A-Levels anyway so whats wrong with them doing these?
