Man jailed for stabbing youthA 23-year-old man has been sentenced to 45 months imprisonment after he stabbed a 14-year-old boy in the stomach in a dispute over stolen lead.SkelhornRichard Skelhorn (born 11/09/85) of Fairbourne Drive in Timperley pleaded guilty to section 18 wounding at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. He also pleaded guilty to theft of lead, aggravated vehicle taking, criminal damage to a police vehicle and drink driving. He was jailed on Monday 22 September 2008Skelhorn had moved into the Timperley area shortly before this incident and had befriended some local children to help him steal lead flashing, threatening to beat them up if they refused. On Monday 12 November 2007, Skelhorn arrived at a house on Fairywell Road in Timperley, expecting to find some lead flashing that he had kept at the address, but it was no-where to be found.Skelhorn went next door and stole a small quantity of lead flashing from the porch and extension, before returning to the house. He went into the kitchen, picked up a kitchen knife and went into the lounge, where he sat on the sofa next to the 14-year-old victim. As he sat down, he swung his right arm backwards into the boys' stomach. His fist was clenched, but he was holding the knife, which had a 4-inch blade. The blade went straight through the boy's coat and school uniform and into his liver. He was taken to Wythenshawe hospital where he was treated for internal bleeding and has since been released, having made a full recovery. After he had stabbed the 14-year-old, Skelhorn stole a car from a nearby house but was arrested a short time later when he was involved in a collision with an empty, parked transit van. During his arrest he smashed the window of a police vehicle.Detective Inspector Bob Tonge from Stretford CID said: "Skelhorn is a nasty individual, who befriended these kids and used bullying tactics to force them to do his dirty work. When things didn't go his way, and one of the boys objected to getting involved in stealing, he stabbed him viciously."Thankfully the boy has made a full recovery, but it could have been much worse. Skelhorn had no regard whatsoever for the boy - fleeing from the scene and leaving it to two other 14-year-old boys to call for help."
