fao Serato DJ's who used to use vinyl

I still buy and collect vinyl and sometimes delve into MP3's when I want to play my own tunes / unreleased tunes

I want to be able to run my vinyls along with my MP3's and I dont want to have to rip all my vinyls into digital

so I can I interchange between a real vinyl and a serato vinyl??

Yes. All you have to do is to switch the phono/line switch behind your mixer (line = serato, phono = vinyl). Recording is so long, but it has to be done.

for that reason im out

cause i love playing vinyl

i love having my record bag and just knowing each vinyl by the cover knowing how it responds when i touch it cause the needle hole is tight or maybe i gotta cue it different etc

its not the same selecting mp3's with a mouse..

they need to come with something like a dubplate cutter 4 home use where u just put the mp3 on the vinyl and thats it forget reaching behind the mixer changing around wires and sh*t. i dont know about u but i got a djm 500 and i know it will make funny noises if i start doing that kind of stuff when im recording a mix or what have you

you're out because you have to flick one switch?

a friend of mine works at Phonica, she really enjoys it.. so much that she's been doing work experience there since the summer lol, always try to get onto her about working for no pay but she gets craploads of free stuff and guestlist into clubs

I love vinyl too, but you need to understand that it is the same thing. What I have done is put a marker on the serato vinyl to where it starts so you know where to scratch from. Choosing the mp3s is nothing, as it is the two vinyls on the deck that you care about after you have selected them. It acts EXACTLY the same as vinyl, just that they are all on your hard drive. If djs such as A-Trak & Jazzy Jeff use it (WHO ARE TURNTABLIST) then that's saying something.

If you really not wanna up your vinyl to digi, it is piss easy to flick between serato & vinyl, so easy it's not even a thought tbh. The djm500 or anyother mixer wont care if your flicking between phono & line.

i had a go on one m-audio system yesterday. switching between vinyl and mp3 is a piece of piss, although when u pick up the needle and put it back to the start of the track it doesn't put the mp3 back to that start, which confused me, also i found that the vinyls (probably due to the mastering) were much louder than the mp3s.

Serato has not this problem. It acts exactly like vinyl!

u don't use the switches on ur mixer, u do it on the interface that comes with the program, the only problem with this is u can't really set it up in between ur set and someone else's of ur playin out

oh, well on this other program i was using it the switch was on the interface

You can use Serato with standard mixers that's why you're clicking at the interface.

Serato beats all other similar software, but it's the mixer you chose still.

I think you're thinking of the Rane mixers specialised to Serato where you can control Serato from the mixer.

Nah not the 58s or 68s. I mean you can switch between vinyl and serato vinyl via any mixer, just from switching the phono/lne switch at the back of the mixer. Every mixer (no £30 jobbie) has this. I do this when I'm showing people how serato works, when I want the to here the high pitch noise the serato vinyl makes.
