Numero001 Posted May 23, 2007 Report Share Posted May 23, 2007 My initial thoughts are, this is very here and there. Its like he tried to achieve too many things that dont blend very well together. He obviously tried to please too many people and lost sight of a target audience which I feel will be counter-productive and eventually lead to him displeasing all of his listeners.He has tracks like Same Girl, Flirt, Double Up and the reggae influenced tracks, "Freaky In The Club" and "I Like Love" - which seem to always appear on his albums since the sucess of Fiesta - make for easy listening and prove to be highlights for me and is really the type of songs a man of his age should stay at. Mid-life crisis is himThen he has these wannabe South jumpoffs such as Tryna Get A Number with AWOL St Luna-bricks talisman Nelly, Get Dirty, Hook It Up, Rock Star, Rollin which are ok, but I dont know why he feels he should do them.Even the slow songs dont save the album. They fail to live up to previous classics. The only time these songs and songs like Bump And Grind, U Remind Me, Body's Calling and Step In My Room....... are ever mentioned in the same sentance is when talking about how R. Kelly fell off. Songs such as "The Zoo" (you already know what he's talking about), "Real Talk" is ok. Good concept but the unneccessary use of expletives are quite off putting though. Its more than you average rapper's album (hear it and you'll see what I'm saying). "Best Friend" with my girl Keyshia Cole and one of my current fave priducers Polow Da Don is also ok. Another good concept which shows he is still light years ahead of most out there."Too many chefs spoil the soup" is not the case here. As you know, he does everything himself (usually anyway), its just he is too talented and doesnt know what to do. I personally think he should stick to the older stuff and sell his rude songs to these young pretenders or find a couple of protegé's to give these to. I mean even Usher's got a stable and he's nowhere near as talnted as Kellz. Why he doesnt have any artists out there confuses me. He could just mould them into a younger version of him and he could live his young life through a younger artist.The VA Tech tribute is cool. Its his "Storm Is Over" type song on this album.Defo not a classic or one that is on par with any of his other albums. Mainly the thoughts of a man that comes across as quite desperate for pum, like he's tryna prove something (there havent been any rumours of him being homo recently, has there?)I'm disappointed 'cause I was fiendin ths album seriously.
