HH NEEDS a Ja Rule and a Nelly!!!

You may have seen in my previous topic but some people either dont know, are in denial or got it twisted. These guy were the talismen along with Eminem and to a lesser degree Jay-Z for consistent sucess on the commercial side of things. I dont think we'll get another Eminem 'cause his timing was perfect (rebellious White guy against Pop) and if his blueprint was to be copied, it wouldnt be the same. That is also the only way I think a White rapper would have kicked in the door and I dont think another will come along. He also is very sick with the lyrics, better than most, so he had to work doubley hard to get his props.Jay-Z wasnt really on that level, although he thought he was.But Ja Rule and Nelly are the ones that I believe are easier to recreate and are both quite similar in the songs they released commercially but very different backgrounds.I'll start with Nelly. If you dont respect his music or his rhymes, one thing you have to rate him for is his grind. Heard various things about him from before he blew up, but thats not the focus here, because back then it wasnt mixtape driven like how it is now. Artists were still getting signed based on demo's or singles blowing up in regions. We all know his first single Country Grammer. A straight banger that just grew. Never quite understood what he was saying being that he spat his bars so fast and his Southern drawl was hard to understand when he was talking let alone rapping so fast. But unlike a lot of the South songs nowadays, he wasnt a one-hit-wonder. His second single, EI, was completely different to the first, still a banger and made everyone take note of the artist. Single after single was released and he just got more and more fans as well as getting bigger singles with his peak being Hot In Herre then the even bigger Dilemma feat Kelly Rowland. Then we have Ja Rule. I wont stay too long on him 'cause I'm tired now, but he had sick videos, club tracks and a bunch of radio friendly track that worked in clubs, the biggest being Always On Time which intro'd Ashanti. Basically my point is they both made you take note of him because they had nice songs and werent trying to be some big time gangsta/pusher on every track, came across as nice guys next door with songs that the whole familiy could listen to. They ruled the airwaves, maybe with help of payola, but they really didnt need it, they made excellent songs.Thats what's missing from HipHop.Anyone that wants to tell me I'm wrong speak now or forever hold your peace.Any record execs. or journalists/editors reading holla at me via pm. I will be glad to discuss any projects you want me to work on.p.s. I got an artist is gonna come and done the place as long as people aint sleeping, so I dont even mind releasing these thoughts.

I wrote that.Should I take that as a compliment?
Don't worry bout the hate Marv, they will know of the movement soon enoughYeah, I agree 100%It's just like I mentioned to you time agoWhat is TRULY lacking in commercial Hip-Hop is not ONE factor in particular but is more about a lack of balanceWhen it comes to Hip-Hop on a mainstream level, it NEEDS the Nelly's & Ja Rule's because they are major cash cows for their record companies. The money they bring in, enables the label to take more risks with the more ''underground'' artists.

I dont know why certain people feel the need to hate rap from Ja Rule if their favorite rappers Nas. I love the lyrical type of rap from Nas, Talib Kweli and Common but that doesnt stop me from liking Ja Rule or Nelly. Ja Rule made some sick love songs back in the day.Get Away with Milian, Between Me & U with Milian, songs with Ashanti are all classic tunes in my eyes. May not be classic hiphop tunes but classics none theless.

I thought that what was plauging Hip Hop now? The commercial artists like Ja Rule & Nelly, and at present time Mims & Snap Music?I completely agree with you though, Hip Hop is lacking that BIG commercial appeal at the minute, theres not a tune thats all over every station, from Choice to Capital where there would of been back in da day. But hey, apparently Jay Z has said Ja Rule's new street single is one of the Best songs hes heard in his life.

Lol.Ja Rule been replaced by 50. 50's discorgaphy is already better than Ja's. To be honest the only thing I miss about Ja's music not being in rotation is that without it The Gomez Brothers cant take the piss out of him on Whoo Kid tapes...Nelly still got his spot. Nelly is a individual, that knows how to make different records, but still BIG records.

there is a big difference between nelly and common. i don't even know how you could say there isn't. this is a joke topic.
Where did I mention Common being similar to Ja Rule? Where did anyone put them two on the same level? Read the text and dont put in something that isnt there. Hates clouding your vision.@ those saying he isnt needed, I'm not talking specifically about them two. What I am saying is someone like that is needed. If there isnt someone dominant in the game bringing the attention and fans from all genres to the game then how is it gonna grow? What we have now is too many rappers (I wont even call them artists) putting, not only the neutrals (music buyers) off, but the HipHop fans that spread word of HH are being put off.If you cant see how much they did for the game, then you have no opinion.

I'n just saying someone of that type. The commercial guy thats running tings. Doing features and totally dominating the scene. Who would you say is ruling HH now like how him and Murder Inc were.50 aint got family friendly tunes, nor has he got a family friendly persona through his music. Very likeable when you hear him on radio and see him on TV but his music speaks the loudest and he's just some shot 9 times guy who talks about guns. Therefore, he is not a replacement for Ja IMHOLook at me giving away trade secrets. Watch some p*ssy go and follow my blueprint 'cause these AnRs aint got no mind of the game.

Ja Rule did more family friendly songs. Songs that you, your mum and sis can all be singing little parts to.Livin It Up, Between Me And You, Mezmerize, and the DefJam record holder for best selling single (defo at the time, not sure about now) Always On Time were all radio friendly smashes and thats not even including his songs with J-Lo. 50 has In The Club and Outta Control that I would consider family-friendly. He's not got a family friendly persona neither. When did you see Ja Rule pose with guns? When did you see Ja have his advert banned? So yes, Ja had more crossover ability and a wider spectrum audience than 50 does now

Means nothing. 50 replaced Ja. The industry isn't big enough for both of them to be succesful and I'd rather 50 be at the top.Ja in his peak never sold what 50 did, so how does he have more crossover ability? I'll guarantee you if you was to find all of the people who have only got one hip hop album in there entire music collection, more would have GRODT than all of Ja's albums collectively, that dictates spectrum of audience to me.Seriously give up on this point your backing a lose/lose.
