Liverpool closing in on Torres

This is it:"Anfield Dream Holds Torres Key"By Tony BarrettIF the desire to sign for Liverpool was enough to win a move to Anfield, Fernando Torres would already be a Liverpool player. In recent years it has become an open secret that the Spanish international would only be willing to give up his beloved Atletico Madrid shirt if he could swap it for a red one and join Rafa Benitezââ¬â¢s Anfield revolution. It is this desire which has seen Torres emerge from a shortlist of strikers ââ¬â including the likes of Real Zaragozaââ¬â¢s Diego Milito, Villarrealââ¬â¢s Diego Forlan, Klaas Jan Huntelaar of Ajax and PSVââ¬â¢s Arouna Kone ââ¬â to become Benitezââ¬â¢s target number one.Torresââ¬â¢ ability is undoubted. A total of 82 goals in little over 200 games for an Atletico side which has been nothing more than an also ran in La Liga since he signed his first professional contract with the club as a 15-year-old in 1999 tells its own story.Since his debut, he has gone on to become the symbol of Atletico Madrid. The fans worship him to such an extent that club chiefs have continually been at pains to point out that they would only sell him if Torres forced the issue.Just last year, club President Enrique Cerezo told a packed press conference: ââ¬ÅIf Fernando Torres ends up leaving Ateltico It will be because he wants to, because we have no intention of selling him.ââ¬ÂA Liverpool shirt may have been torched outside Anfield when Steven Gerrard looked set to move to Chelsea but in Madrid there have long been fears that rioting would break out should Fernando Torres ever be allowed to quit Atletico. But this summer something changed. As the La Liga season reached its climax, Atletico again missed out on a European place and many of their fans came to the same realisation that several Spanish football commentators came to years before ââ¬â remaining at Atletico Madrid was no longer an option for a talent like Fernando Torres. All of a sudden, the possibility of a move away from the Vincente Calderon stadium was discussed openly. The Atletico fans do not want rid of their talisman, far from it, but their relationship with their favourite son is such that they want only what is best for him.And that is where Liverpool come in. The Atletico board and fans do not want to see Torres play for another Spanish club. If his undoubtedly huge potential was realised at a rival La Liga side that would be too much for them to bear.So a move abroad is the best, perhaps the only, option for everyone. Manchester United, Chelsea and a whole host of Italian clubs have expressed an interest in Torres in recent years but his heart has always belonged to Liverpool.Benitez has long been aware of Torresââ¬â¢ talent and now he believes the time is right to prise him away from Atletico and make his Anfield dreams come true. One of the main reasons for this is Benitez has been made well aware that Torres is desperate to play for Liverpool. The forward has no desire to become the subject of an auction and nothing would please him more than for a deal to be tied up as quickly as possible.Should a fee be agreed ââ¬â and in the absence of an Abramovich style budget, doing a deal for world class forward is never going to be easy ââ¬â it would be surprising in the extreme if Torres was to jeopardise his dream move by making excessive personal demands.Atletico will not make it easy of course ââ¬â after all you only get to sell the family silver once ââ¬â and they will be looking to secure the highest fee possible in order to appease their fans over the loss of their hero. But if the desire of Benitezââ¬â¢s American backers matches that of his target, there is no reason why Fernando Torres should not become a Liverpool player in the very near future.------------------------------------------------------------THA ACTUAL STORY USING BABBEL FISHThe Liverpool hopes to close the draftee of Fernando Torres the next week. The English club is arranged to take control of the services of international rojiblanco and it will not put any type of economic impediment for it. If the equipment that trains Benítez puts upon the table 36 million euros, the present player of the Athletic one will leave to the Premier. That operation, in those terms, would interest to the parts at issue: to the organization of the Manzanares because it would take an amount very important of money (with which, among other things, ficharía a pair of players of first level) and to the own soccer player, who would see fulfilled one of his yearnings. Towers always have said that if must leave the Athletic one it would do it to the Premier. And the Liverpool is right now one of the main European clubs.Codicioso Liverpool.Let us go by parts. The Liverpool wants to Towers and thus echo was made all the English press in these last days. The love between Towers and the Premier come from distant spot. The forward of the Athletic one has a great poster in England. He is a young, goleador, fast player, goes well of headââ¬Â¦ Benítez knows him perfectly. The clause of the soccer player is of 40 million euros, although if it exists a crossing to the player belongs the ten percent to him of he himself. The Athletic one lowered to the clause the last season to him. Before it was of 90 million euros, a prohibitive number. It was an act of good will between club and player. 40 million yes are a number that can pay the main European clubs. But finally those can be 36 million that are the guilty of the exit from the Boy to England. And what says the Athletic one? Officially Towers are player of the group, most important and most charismatic. The Athletic one sends to all to the clause of the player. The Athletic one handles a list of three important soccer players facing reinforcing the equipment: Quaresma, Forlán (always in case Towers leave) and Kings, although this one last one is not most high-priority in the list of reinforcements. The Athletic one will wait for movements of the Liverpool, that will take place this next week. The agent of Benítez is intimate friend of the leaders of the Calderón. A safe bridge between and others. The Athletic one yes waits for a thing: that if Towers must go away that it does it soon, with time to reconstruct the part of attack of the equipment, advantage that always been it has led by the Boy.Of vacations. And the player? He is of vacations, but informed into everything. Towers are well in the Athletic one, knows that if gain the eliminatory one of Intertoto the UEFA can play, their old illusion of rojiblanco. But to anybody bitter him a candy and the Liverpool is it. Year after year the most important clubs of Europe have asked for the situation of the Boy and the answer always has been the same one. Towers have been, once again, the maximum goleador of the equipment and the player on whom the hopes have stayed rojiblancas to play an European competition. If the Athletic one says that yes to 36 million, Towers will also give yes by answer. The problem for the two parts is not to be left before the liking rojiblanca bad. To explain to the fan of the Manzanares an operation that obviously can be successful for club and player. At times of skinny cows, 36 million a number important feels like as not to study a crossing. --------------------------------------------------------------http://www.zshare.net/audio/2396583cce1898/English translation of the story in the AS newspaperLooks like this move is nearing completion

Fernando Torres, The Kid, are the center of attention of English soccer. When the Liverpool promised them very happy, knowing that if appeared in Madrid the week that comes with 36 million would return to house with the end, a rival has left him weight: the Arsenal. The sale of Henry to the Barça by 27 million locates to gunners in a privileged situation to seduce the Boy: without front center and by far money to buy one.In favor of the Londoners it plays that Wenger has been the great pretendiente of Towers during the past few years. Nevertheless, the refusal of the Boy to leave the Atleti frustrated all its approaches. But this summer is different and the air change, than more probable. So the Arsenal will move card in the next hours. In England they assure that Wenger already has tied a young unknown Brazilian forward, but who also will try to file to a star to cover the hollow of Henry. And the chosen one is Towers. As much the Athletic one as the soccer player the hands rub before the irruption of the Arsenal in bids up it. The plan of the Liverpool is to come to Madrid the week that comes with the money and to negotiate to try to lower the price of the draftee, perhaps including a Luis Garci'a in the operation, alternative that does not convince in the Manzanres. Nevertheless, now a rival with fresh money and a player like Kings have left them whom yes much to the Athletic one interests. So 36 million will be almost unremovable.
Had to get it translated but its from AS the Spainish newspaper based in Madrid.

Very good player but the worry would be could he make it in the Premiership and why didnt Barcelona get him instead of Henry? Cos if the problem at Barcelona is the players losing focus due to commercial commitments then Torres would be less of a problem then Henry...Why arent Madrid after him? Instead of Tevez...I just wonder just how good he really is...
