Reasonable Doubt Appreciation

It's not a contest with the Illmatic topic. This also isn't a Jay Z vs. Nas topic. Remember the most important thing here is the music. I'm not the biggest Jay-z fan, but this album is quality from start to finish.Jay-Z-ReasonableDoubt.jpgMe personally, I still play this album to this day, everything is on point - beats, lyrical content and the fact that the album is timeless says alot.Use this topic to share thoughts on favourite songs, verses or lines; or stir up debate or just kick up a fuss.

It is good.Best tracks IMOPolitics As usualFeelin itDead Pres I & IICan I LiveD'EvilsBrooklyns FinestRegretsCant Knock The HustleBring It OnIt was very good, but the album had too many tracks for me, it was one of those that if it had clipped a few, it could haev been a perfect album. If it had just had the ones above, then IMO it would seriously rival Illmatic. Perhaps be better...well not but still, would be a better album. Gets even less attention than Illmatic though, most people do not even know it is his first album..Nas lost..

hate to bring this up again but certain people need some perspective:illmatic was released in 94reasonable doubt was released in 96illmatic was a genre-defining instant classicjay-z became a household name in 97-98 releasing a string of commercial singlesin 2001 jay-z dropped takeoverfrom this moment forth as god is my witness weed smokers and internet hip hop heads would debate ad nauseam about jay-z vs nasreasonable doubt was basically brought up in retrospect, had he not 'sold out' no one would give a f*ck about reasonable doubt and it would have been just one of dozens of good to excellent 90s new york hip hop albums to go unnoticed by everyone but hip hop headsif you prefer reasonable doubt that's cool but what im saying is fact not opinions

No, they are opinions, not facts.Noone does give a f*ck about it but hip hop heads, this thread is only 10 posts long if you havent noticed, doesnt sound like something everyone is crazy for does it?If you even look at the posts/responses in this thread noone is even claming it to be the best album ever or anything. It was Jays best album, everything he has done since, bar a few efforts, have been completely and utterly mediocre. And yea, I am a Hip Hop head, so I havent/didnt ignore it.

you yourself said it could have potentially rivalled illmatic, anyways this is more relevant to the illmatic thread but i felt to drop my two cents in here cos i didnt wana tarnish the illmatic thread any further

Boy...I think those who prefer Reasonable Doubt over Illmatic & vice versa are fans who appreciate different things in Hip-Hop..So it'll be stupid tryna compare so I'm going to focus on the music of Reasonable Doubt...This album is arguably the most stylish albu ever made in Hip-Hop. The epitome of swagger. f*ck what you heard. Can't Knock The Hustle, Politics As Usual, D'Evils, Feelin' It, Can I Live, 22's Two's, Friend Or Foe, Regrets....Lyrically, it may not be Illmatic but I think the quality of songs was better. I mean, like I said, if you're looking for straight lyricism, poetry etc, Illmatic is you. But I think RD is the better all round package.
