....'World Class'THis phrase is used so much, it has little meaning anymore.if there are so many world class players, then the requirement levels to be consider world class has to be raised. For me only a hand ful of players should be called this, the ones who consistently perform at a level above other very good players for a long period of time. not just players who seem to be going through a purple patch. but I guess it depends on your definition.

*spuds*Zidane, Ronaldo, Batistuta, Figo, Maldini, Rivaldo etc were called world class...Then certain guys are calling the likes of Carlitos Tevez, Berbatov world class?[speedy]''Ain't this about a bitch''[speedy]

Like I said, it's tedious.Crespo was world class, why haven't you listed him? Shearer?Llow bumsucking your Pro Evo hero's acting like only 11 players can be world class.Berbatov isn't World Class? I used to agree but his touch is probably the best going.

You can't simply say x y and z are world class but others aren't.Crespo, a clearly world class striker. Those mentioned above were better than World Class, they were superstars and some of the greatest of all time, it's not the same as world class.World Class = being able to play for any team and not look out of place as a player.

Co-sign in a way. Difference between World class and Legends. If we try to compare the players of today to the ones mentioned. Then there will no such thing as world class anymore. Like i said the threshold has changed due the players in todays football.

I have to agree.Especially amongst people on here. After one good game a few goals Berbatov went from being a good European based player when he was @ Bayern, to a World Class 'he'll get into any team in the world' player, its laughable.World Class is reserved for the select few who do it over a consistent basis on the biggest stage at some of greatest clubs in the world.I remember getting canned on here for saying Henry wasn't World Class. If Henry is World Class then so is Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Joe Cole and flipping Rio Ferdinand.

I agree with this way of thinking. The players you mentioned were rarely if never found wanting on the biggest stage, they performed game in game out.Plus no-one would argue that at their peak they wouldn't be able to play in any team in the World. In some cases they've won everything there is to win in World Football.

I'm a United fan and i can assure you Rio is not World Class.First off he isn't consistent enough to be considered World Class, there was even talk of him being dropped for England for goodness sake.Plus he hasn't won anything in terms of World Football. No World Cups, Champions League, European Cups, World Player of the Year or European Player of the Year.He doesn't even come close.
