I've been saying this for ages

Grime ruined what little credibility it had when it started chasing the money and mainstream fame

Skepta being the biggest culprit

Thing is your average Grime fan doesn't hold these 'artist' up to any sort of standards, so they literally get away with murder (in terms of sh*t music) for the sake #teamuk (cringeeeeee!)

NME giving him a 3/10 is am absolute mock tbh, it basically means shoreditch hipsters don't care anymore, bad times ahead for Joseph

grime lost its credibility in a number of ways. chasing mainstream fame isnt bad imo.

grime lost credibility when it stopped being a reflection of the streets.

only ppl who play grime now are ppl who could be in the cast of skins. was never meant to be that.

and what was that refelction? being chased around town by yutes and getting shanked and shot?

running up on ppl, and shotting.

yeah that relfection will definitely be worth a multi-thousand pound investment from a music label innit

/

skepta was always sh*t imo, much better producer than artist. lol@ even downloading this digital crap for free

It didn't matter about that, thats not the point of it

Lol at calling Skepta always sh*t though

He isn't sh*t mate, not at all. However when he produces this (which is bad music even by "pop" standards) he makes himself appear sh*t.

Anyone whose been to raves with Skepta KNOWS he isn't sh*t.

Well most people on here seem to agree with him so...

Exactly.

I don't understand what you're trying to say though

Most in this thread said it's any soulless overproduced autotune nonsense that lacks in several places, which is what he said

It sounds like you hate the NME so much that you won't consider anything that comes from it

Don't get me wrong I don't like it either, it's a wank rag populated by cunts, but on this occasion it's kind of on the money

Narstie has no choice but to keep it real tho tbf

It's painfully real for Narstie out there.

His bars reflected that as well, a lyrical interpretation of life on the streets

'N dot A dot... R dot S dot... Ring-a-ring-a-rosies'

Truly chilling.

:/

maybe ur from country or suttin but uk cities (mainly london) have a unique buzz, energy and vibe to it. tht used to be reflected in the music which helped make it appealing, exciting and dynamic.

:/ :/

thanks for your londoner insight.

appealing to who? were they ever gonna sell out 02 arena like that.

everything gets toned down to reflect MASS appeal usually

i agree that the current crop of most acts are way too commercial

but not cos they're commercial, but cos theyre commercial and still sh*t.

wots ur point bruv? my initial post was talkin about credibility, in tht same post i also said something about wantin fame/commercial not being a bad thing if done in the right way.

so i dont know wot it is about ur character that makes u want to jus argue for the sake of it but in future make sure u know wot ur arguing about.

and i dont know what it is about your character to think you know more about london than myself and the vibe it represents. in future just state your opinion and not question people's origins, ur just one of 7 million londoners....hardly significant in the larger scope of things.
