Thought I'd clocked it last night I was puzzled. Beat the Final Boss and then the credits rolled. Then it moved onto Chapter 2.

Yeah so I didn't gather any intel in Afghan, went straight in and rescued the guy. I like exploring but thought I would be doing this after rescuing him. We fly off, I think Ive completed the game. Guy in the shop told me it took him 37 hours. I have only done around 2. He did seem a bit thick.

 

Start of chapter 2...overall completion 1%.

WTF? There is absolutely no way you have started Chapter 2 with 1% completion. It gives you % every time you complete a single mission. There are 31 missions in Chapter 1. I started Chapter 2 at around 39% complete and I've been doing sub missions as well.

 

I got lucky when I started out, was driving through North Afghan and heard a dog barking so found it pretty much beginning of the game. My cousins up to the same part as me half way through and he's not found the dog yet lol.

Some of the missions in Chapter 2 are the same as Chapter 1 but with tougher scenarios. Fucked how the AI pays attention to how you have been attacking them and start shipping in more heavy body armour and helmets depending on where you shoot them. I read you can also send your dudes out on jobs to fuck up their shipments to stop them from arriving making it easier for you again. It's deep.

How far has everyone got now? I'm up to about Mission 41 or something and Hideo has taken the piss. Won't give any spoilers but he's fooled me so far. Also Chapter 2 has a lot of repeated missions from Chapter 1 but in Extreme mode, I.E. you can't get spotted at all or mission ends and in others one hit and your dead. Which is fucking ridiculous considering how hard it can be in normal mode.

I can't even get past the second level after he escapes from the hospital!!!

Got to the town where the guy is being kept hostage but can't get through the guards without being caught!!!

lol Episode 2 Chapter 1 you mean? Just go gung ho and shoot everyone if you get clocked then. I finished the whole story last night, was a madness and epic. Some things left me disappointed though.

Have you tried online, I see this thing where other players can raid your mother base?!

I've put in a lot of hours and it is a long game if you're trying to be stealthy etc. I've completed both story mode endings. Chapter 1 and 2, that's about 51% complete for me. Still got a load of side ops I can do at my leisure. I've not raided anyone's base but I've had people raiding mine, I'm Ranked 3 in my league as some people have failed in their attempt so I gain points from that.

Some advice as well which I wish I had of known at the start. When doing missions, interrogate soldiers before knocking them out etc. They reveal important things to you like where blueprints are, which soldiers might be specialists or where prisoners are being kept in the camps. Prisoners turn out to be specialists as well which will boost your mother base if you use the Fulton to air lift them out of there. I went through the first 20 or so missions not bothering to check things like that.

People are paying your Diamond Dogs group money to do missions for them. You can use that money to buy new Weapons etc. When you bring up your iDroid go to the Motherbase section and development. Your Motherbase plays a big part in the game, you need to use your money to build new platforms for medical units and research etc. This is why you need to use the Fulton to extract Soldiers you come across in the game, when you scan them with Binoculars it gives you an indication of what their skills are. A+ and above means they are very good at certain things. You extract them back to your base and they work for you, this keeps building up your base level and that inturn unlocks the ability to purchase better weapons.

 

Their are different Levels for each item as well. I.E. The first Fulton you get will allow you to extract men with the balloon. Eventually you can get a Fulton that will allow you to extract large land based machine guns and metal containers which contain materials for your research and development team to process.

 

Haven't played the last few, is there a roundup so I know the story to this?

Yea check YouTube for videos that run through the whole story quick time for you. Without giving you any spoilers TBH it isn't really necessary to know the history of MGS with the way this goes. Just makes it more peachy and allows Hideo to fuck with your mind lol.

lol I'm guessing Hideo has done that on purpose as a Fuck You to Konami who have been removing his name from all MGS stuff since he split from them. There is also a poster on the wall in the hospital when you are struggling to walk out of there which has Snake on it and  saying A Hideo Kojima game.
