2000 and 2002 they had a fucking good team mate, their core from 98 was still there, in 2002 Makelele had made his way through.

 

No ones doubting Zidanes genius, but he isn't better than Messi because he managed to play for a well structured international side with some of the best Dms and Defenders of the last 20 years to do a lot of the work for him.

 

Same way Iniesta isn't better than Messi for the same reason.

He did, but if he never had any injuries i don't think there would be a debate of who was a better player out of him and Zidane in the late 90's/early 00's. 

 

He was so much better than everyone in the world imo from when he was 20.
