FAO Computer/Laptop Pros

im lookin for a new laptop.

it needs to have high RAM and fairly high processing speed. also would like a larger screen like 16-17". don't care about the hard drive memory cos i use an external, but its gotta be able to connect wirelessly to the internet.

does anybody have any recommendations? my budget is about £1000 but don't mind having a look at something that costs a little bit more.

With £1k

you can get a beast of a lappy.

As long as your not looking for a MAC.

Your looking at a i7 lappy, 17"

4Gb ram and a decent gfx card ( if your looking to watch HD/bluray/ play a couple games. )

you could get something real nice.

^^^ye saw the hp one aswell, but the processor speed on the sony is better. also the internal memory is too much, i dont need 1TB memory.

as for that dell, ye it does look pretty sick but thinking about it 1K is a bit much for a lappy. could do with saving the extra 200 and little bit of a shitter laptop.

and as for Macs, i would personally look into it cos i hear nothing but good things but the laptop aint for me its for some older family members who aren't as computer literate and not too keen on the different OS.

You know it actualy make me rage with... rage when I see an OAP using high end technology for basic tasks such as surfing internet

Likewise when I see an OAP driving an 11plate Golf

Brah if you want to accomodate less PC literate people then the OS and interface is what you need to worry about

Allow buying them a PC powerful enough to run a recent Total War game at 100% full spec just for surfing the net

the ones o dot posted would do fine.

Mine is a samsung r700 few years old, doesnt have them new ichipsets though but runs perfectly. I can play games, watch HD vids, do other bare sh*t, make music etc etc with no problem. So depending on what your family member is going to use it for, no point in getting that i7 overkill lappy if they are just going to use it for basic things.

I agree, even a Core 2 duo e7500 or something as such would be fine.

i5 would be far enough, no point getting an i7 machine for "future proofing" if they are never going to start video encoding/gaming etc in the future.

The second generation i5's are immense, might as well save the money and get a laptop with one of those and lots of memory...
