Will electronic dance music ever die from the mainstream?
Fillup Banks replied to seven's topic in Whatever
yep, in the last 20years we've seen hip-hop become absorbed into pop and electronic music has followed. the result is labels churning out a product that's entirely formulaic and solely designed to be saleable. u could argue mainstream music has been on this path for years tho, almost everything has been 4/4 for decades the internet has also played a big part in making subcultures & local scenes go global... i doubt you could have something like the grime scene of 10yrs ago grow today there's still decent enough popular music out there and good music being made, just don't expect to find it on MTV -
^^why the edit? but yh there's no way those are actually his views.. he's just being sentimental & waffling, trying to make an argument that's void choice are just following trends
-
kanye didn't bring leather back, come on. he isn't rated like that in fashion circles and i doubt he ever will tbh. he might be the first rapper to jump on the trends he does, but he's still not the originator. just look at his APC colab.... jay's influence is also overstated (mainly by him). but americans do idolise him ridiculously

trust, worst film i've seen in years. i saw a copy filmed in the cinema & people were laughing at how bad the acting was recommend this italian gangster film Romanzo Criminale. saw it on a plane years ago, rewatching now
-
flyknits are so shit, as are yeezys so true, i blame size? & social media mainly... the whole 'shoe game' thing is so bait & corny now
-
^^ i think the stock market is boog...it doesn;t seem like u can genuinely influence it no game has drawn me in like this for years, it's taken up all my time over the last week it does seem really short tho, they should have added some gangbanging missions with lemar or something
-
yeah it prob would have, but it wasn't as it is i can't justify spending 30mins of my life listening to waka talk about whatever
-
bound 2 is one of my favourites on the album, the bassline is nice still don't really like this album BUT i have to rate him for making something somewhat original (although i think the albums originality has been overstated)
-
were gucci & waka ever really close like that tho? always seemed kinda forced.... hiphop is becoming more like a soap every week now & waka's always been shit

pain & gain was good for what it was, i'd say 7 or 8. kept me entertained the whole way through elysium was one of those sci-fi films that doesn't reveal enough about its world. most of the time on elysium was spent in corridors. too predictable as well lebowski = classic i wanna see this http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/narco-cultura/trailer

what do those reviews from the source prove? Only on this forum i see this kind of foolishness elaborate please re. MBDTF, it's not Kanye's best but track for track is better than GKMC. i think it will be regarded as a classic
-
this verse been way overhyped. guess it did what it was meant to GKMC is NEVER a classic in the sense that liquid swords, doggystyle, reasonable doubt, the fix, MBDTF, low end theory etc. it's (very) good but the stand out tracks / complete body of work are nowhere near 'classic' status. it just shows how the levels have dropped i prefered section 80 anyway. GKMC wouldn;'t make my top 30 hiphop albums

watched deja vu last night, i reckon that's denzel's worst film. nothing engaging about it

^^strong choices https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woD17mteN24 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Boas_om2Pto youtube doesn't have the full album add every tribe/gza/outkast album

i've always said to myself i'd live abroad at some stage & still intend to. it's so easy to get consumed by London & spend your whole life in the same place luckily i;ve got family scattered around so once uni's done i'll give it a shot. definitely looking to move out of europe, i think being somewhere totally alien lets u think about what your priorities really are
-
some deep tune i keep hearing out, it has a pitched down vocal going 'all night long .. all night long' etc
