Allow it, I'm not stupid. I plugged it in. What I mean't is although the PC knows it's there and recognises it as a USB device, I can't access it.

maybe it needs special drivers installed, i dont think it should thoughmaybe it needs to be formatted, plug it back in internally and back up important things, then put it back in the external enclosure and see if there is a way you can format it

there's usually a wire that you have to connect to your hardrive inside the enclosure

u need two plug to wires from the enclosure to the external.one is where the data travels, one is for powerand DONT drop your external EVERi did, and mines still sittin there buss up. data recovery is expensive for mechanical faults

sounds like whoever sold you the enclosure done that already.we just trying to cover all angles to help you out. if you don't specify that you connected both wires, we have to assume that you didnt.

nothing to do with sharing privilegesmake sure the connect between the enclosure and HDD is live and inserted properlyif it's an IDE HDD make sure the red/pink side of the ribbon is connected to the correct side

Well it definately is connected, since I can see it recognised on the PC.

try thiscontrol panel > administrative tools > computer management > disk management is it in there? if so is it active? if not right click on it and mark partition as active.

its there it doesnt have a name, when i right click it only has help as an option.
