underground hip hop is an underground portion of it but der is hardly any culture left to it cos the genre as a whole is mainstreamed.
*throws goblin-bomb at you*
lmao.look at hip hop wen it was born. the culture was sick, breakdancing, graffing, freestyle battles, even skate boarding a bit....the whole boombox era and the fashon aswell...thesedays half of that is gone for the genre. obviously things like break dancing and graffiti is still about but its link to modern hip hop is weak, there more like seperate things rather than part of hip hop culture.
Thats true to an extent I mean..obviously we all know most of the culture has been stolen & perverted and is now mainstream, but a lot of it still exists, you just have to know where to look..Its like, when most peopel talk about underground, they just mean someone who is unsigned/has no buzz, but still talks that mainstream jizz- They may be nice, but still the same old sh*t, If i had a penny for everytime I heard some wasteman with a few ounchlines/good beats say they were bringin real hip hop back...I'd be slightly more affluent than I am now. biggrin.gifThat isnt what I'd call underground, just broke..
ye its not what i call underground either lol, but its how ppl who got into hip hop from the mainstream perspective view underground....the non commerical/unsigned guys, i.e the harder stuff....but underground is more than that, a lot to do wid culture still. ye you can find some of it these days, thats y i said HALF of its gone. but the fact that its a broken down culture wid only fragments left, and its due to the commercialisation of the genre, puts it in the mainstream catogary for me IMO.hip hop isnt underground music.
Yup, I agree with all of that.However. *throws another goblin-bomb out of boredom*

i dunno man - i listen to all sorts, i'm open to pretty much anything, especially from a production point of view, i can't stand that thrash metal and rock rap tho - it's the one thing i cannot stand.
ye thats me, both things u sed lol.i seem to appreciate music from a production point of view alot aswell as form a listeners view, but most people dnt seem to be able to get the production concept.this is why i thouht burials album was very very sick, as aposed to "ye its sick cos it sounds gd".
yeah - if u make music u can take techniques from all sorts of different areas, i find it interesting that bands like My Chemical Romance only use the drumming as MIDI signals to trigger pre-recorded samples, like regardless of what music u listen to from the point of view of another musician u can learn loads.
