I find them useful for incline/shoulder press. Alot of the big guys at my gym use it for shoulder pressing
For real, i'm lifting 34kg on each side on the shoulder press now and I wont be able to move to 38kg because i wont be able to lift them up, so i'm gonna have to use the smith machine.. Its still gonna work my shoulders as much just without the insane lift to get the over my head
Is it the equivalent of using freeweights or not?From what I've read it is, but my people at the gym keep telling me I would make more gains if I didn't use it.Your opinion?
No it ain the same of using freeweight, otherwise it would not be a machine lolYou will make more gain from freeweights, plus your grip will improve a lot as wellSmith machine is good if your training alone or wanna kill off a part that you have trainned that day
Yeh, I always train on my own. Don't think the gym even have free weights.

i do smith machine work at the end of my shoulder workout. its sick for finishing off your shoulders after you've done the real sets with free weights
