I didnt say Jay Z was the best wtf. Infact im saying hes very overrated How does forgetting Big Pun and Big L reflect on my hip hop knowledge? Doesnt it just mean I have a shite memory or just couldnt thi9nk of them at the time? Or is this just another way of you tryna put yourself above other people?And Mos Def is a fantastic artist. TBH Jubez, of all those reason you named for rating Mos Def, only one of them I would actually say is the reason I rate him. I need not say anything regarding Black On Both Sides as its clearly one of the best hip hop albums ever made in the history of boobs. The New Danger is f*ck*ng fantastic. His expressions of emotion and mood through not only lyrics but also all that pretentious music mumbo jumbo like tone, depth of sound and all that. Its f*ck*ng so superior on so many levels. He pushed the boundaries of whats expected off an eclectic artists nowadays. He took a risk with this album, and for me, it FULLY paid off. Even teh way he mixed up the sounds from track to track, rather than having it as a smooth transition from rock to rap to jazz or whatever, reflexes the unconventional sound he came with. Numero001 Posted June 16, 2008 Report Share Posted June 16, 2008 When did Tupac ever claim to be a gangster though?Just because he spat about real life and not cars, money, f*ckin bitches, popping champagne people think hes sh*t...Can name probably 50+ of his tunes i can listen to b2b off the top of my head cant say the same for any other rappers...At the end of the day its preference because i would rather listen to a Dead Prez album then a Outkast album or a Immortal Technique album then a Jay Z album....He wasnt about having a sick flow or punchlines or using lots of clever similies and metaphors he was about spitting about life and society and some stuff hes been through or witnessed or stuff he has on his mind...Thats what I was meant to say. 'Pac most prob has the least Gangsta Rap songs from anyone dubbed a Gangsta rapper. I havent heard all of 'Pac's album + I aint ever gonna listen to any posthumous albums bar the first two, but I swear man didnt really talk about robbing guys, or moving weight. Made quite a few references to bussin guns, but thats about it. They were usually used to show frustration from what I can remember or used in a metaphorical sense rather than threatning, apart from the obvious 'Hit 'Em Up' type songsMajority to me dealt with thoughts, more reality or commentry from my memory anyway. Not gospel though, my memory could be is clouded with the last 2 albums I heard, AEOM and MATW. AEOM in particular I skipped a couple tracks too lol.Basically he didnt make any Gimme The Loot type songs from what I remember. Begging someone to correct me if I'm wrong, please.
