You generalise too much.Ireland, Italy and most the other Catholic countries don't have sky high divorce rates at all.SLASHAt the end of the day, there's not much difference between an arranged marrigae and a conventional way of meeting a partner anyway - the Western way of meeting a partner is basically decided for you by your social circle anyway. If you think about it, I bet once you narrow all the females you know down to suitable-age, race, looks etc. there's not gonna be much choice left anyway.

The "soul mate", eternal-love concept never even really existed before this day and age. Very modern concept.

Strange distinction to a Westerner, but an important one when thinking about different cultures and mentalities. Some change to attitudes to divorce needs to happen though. A lot of Asian families & communities treat divorce as unspeakable, even when there's abuse involved. Women shouldn't be ostracised for getting away from a violent d*ckhead.
