Exclusive: Chamakh signs pre-contract with ArsenalAuthor: Nigel BrownPosted on:09 February 2010 - 17:23http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/33940/Exclusive_Chamakh_signs_pre-contract_with_Arsenal.aspxSport.co.uk can confirm, after consultation with sources inside the club, that Arsenal have signed a pre-contract agreement with Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has courted the Moroccan for the past 18 months and is known to have made a bid for the player's services in the summer but failed to match the required asking-price. Nevertheless, with the 26-year-old available for a free in the summer and able to sign a pre-contract, it appears that Wenger has finally got his man and Chamakh will join his new teammates in the summer. According to a source close to the deal, thought to be for five years, was signed yesterday afternoon. No official public announcement has yet been made by Arsenal. The Gunners had been expected to sign a striker during January with Robin van Persie, Eduardo da Silva and Nicklas Bendtner all struggling with injuries, however, the thrifty Gunners opted to not spend and instead rely on their current squad. Chamakh has scored 67 goals in 270 appearances for the French side and is set to finish the season with Bordeaux fighting for the Ligue 1 crown and pushing Europe's giants in the UEFA Champions League. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is believed to have beaten off competition for the signature of the Moroccan from Premier League rivals Liverpool and reported late interest from Barcelona and Juventus. The Arsenal boss refused to confirm or deny transfer reports linking him with a move for Chamakh earlier this afternoon. Speaking to the media ahead of Arsenal’s crunch Premier League tussle with Liverpool, Wenger stated: “Chamakh talks to many clubs. He is entitled to. “He is free to sign where he wants. I cannot interfere in that. "We are talking to nobody. We are focusing on tomorrow's game."

MAROUANE CHAMAKH will be an Arsenal player this summer after saying yes to a four-year, £10.4million deal. The free agent Bordeaux ace has snubbed a BIGGER offer from Liverpool and put pen to paper on a Gunners pre-contract agreement. It will mean £50,000 a week for the man Arsene Wenger believes can be the 'new Emmanuel Adebayor'.We told you first on Boxing Day that Arsenal boss Wenger had stepped up his bid to land the striker, even though publicly he had ended his interest in Chamakh.Liverpool were offering the 26-year-old £10,000 a week more. But the 6ft 2in Moroccan was desperate to work with Wenger and his decision will be a stinging snub for under-fire Kop chief Rafa Benitez.Chamakh is rated one of France's top frontmen and was a key member of Laurent Blanc's title-winning team last season.Arsenal tried to land him last summer in a £6m swoop. But Bordeaux wanted double that and the deal stalled.Read more: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/2852098/Marouane-Chamakh-agrees-to-join-Arsenal-in-the-summer.html#ixzz0fN5KehX1

Chamakh is a good signing, until....Chelsea sign Villa.City sign Balotelli.United sign Aguero.
This basically! Don't think it'll go like that but them strikers are there for the taking.
c/sbut not there for us
Until Wenger or the board come out and say we have no money to spend than they are there for us. Fair enough we might work out for ourselves that there's no money but the club shouldn't be lying to fans so we can only go by what we are told.2 things said by Wenger recently:(1) We enquired about Villa. Why are we enquiring? We should be lodging a f*ck*ng bid not enquiring!(2) No strikers moved in January. So f*ck*ng what? So we only sign players if others do so. How many center mids have been available in the past but we just watch them move on? No excuse, lame excuse actually.
